Can anyone tell me If the RSX 1065 can have a fimware upgrade to recognise DTS 96/24.

In theory it's probably possible, but Rotel has no plans to do so. For one thing, there would be additional licensing fees involved to DTS, so it would be hard for them to justify a business case for giving that feature away. Second, this feature is a selling point on the upcoming 1098, and they probably want to keep some features unique to the 1098.

yes, technically it looks possible, now it's up to Rotel. The problem is the same for the RSX 1055 and the Rsp-1066, they all share a comon hardware.
FYI, Marantz now offers for $300 a DTS 96/24 upgrade for their 8200 and 9200 receivers which shares the same decoding platform as the Rotel's 1065/1055/1066.Comment

This maybe a dumb question, but if you use the internal decoder on your DVD player and it has DTS 96/24 capabilities, when using the analog input (5.1 channels), it will play correctly, I am correct?
