Yamaha RX-V1400 to RSP1066. Am I taking a step backwards?

I have an opportunity to get a RSP1066 to match up with my 1095, if I can sell my Yamah RX-V1400. Does anyone think this would be a step back on the technology side?

    I understand your concerns....

Receivers most of the time offer better connectability and features.Seperates are more driven to purer sound quality.

These 2 things you must ask yourself whats more important, sound quality or features/connectability.

Ditto, the Yammie has lots of features etc and probably makes a decent pre/pro because of it. However the 1066 likely offers better sound quality and most if not all the features you really need. Seen as how it seems you're able to have both at the same time, compare the two and sell whichever you like least

I actually owned the Yami RV-3200, and then went to the RSP-1066 (after using the Yami as a pre-pro), and found significant sonic improvement. However, I have not tested against the x400 series Yamahas, which have better internal DACs. I guess the real test would have to be your own ears.

If you were comparing the Yami RX-1400 against the RSP-1068, that would probably be close to my previous testing scenario, and I would think the RSP-1068 would win hands down, I digress.

        Hope this helps.

          Update failure RSP1066
          by seoman
          Hello every body

Yesterday I updated my rsp 1066 with version 1.5.0.
Checksum was ok, and the new features were there.
Everything seems to be working fine.
But when I tried to watch a DVD there was no sound.
The RSP doesn't recognises AC3 or DTS anymore!...

          RSP1066 Vs RSP1068
          by wywong
          Hi,
I have an option of buying an RSP1066 or an RSP1068, the different in price is about $400. Can someone give me an opinion on whether it is worth the extra of $400 to get the RSP1068. I am currently using a Denon 3803 as a pre/processor and the RMB1075. Will this upgrade to the Rotel RSP1066...

          No subwoofer on RSP1066.
          by manini
          Hello,
When I connect my sub to de sub-out I have no sound out my subwoofer. It seems dead. I have my front's set to small, subwoofer to Yes in the menu.

The sub works fine on my old receiver, but on the rsp1066 it will not work.

I've bought the rsp1066 second hand....

Halo JC 3 -- a step up from previous phono preamps in my system
          by Burke Strickland
A while back on this forum in a discussion about the Halo JC 1 power amps & JC 2 BP preamp that I am enjoying in my 2 channel music system, Chris D predicted that the next hi-fi component I would buy is the JC 3 phono preamp. At the time I wasn’t sure that was in the cards. I recognized its...
