Anyone have the BM hardware fix done yet?

Just wondering if anyone has applied the BM fix on the 1066 yet? This would be the one where you cut a couple of wires/components on the system board.

How is it working out?

I might pull it out of the rack and do it this weekend.. I'll be sure to take a lot of pictures. I'm planning on the DPDT switch option because honestly I probably won't use the mod but it will help with resell when I upgrade to the 1098.. Plus it just seems like it will be a lot of fun doing it.. Call me crazy, but I like to solder...

Mine was done last week by Rotel, it is working fantastic. I use the Outlaw Audio ICBM for bass management with my Panasonic RP91 DVD player for DVD-A discs, still tweaking but bass seems to be very natural now.

I wonder if Rotel would allow us to ship our units to them for the fix as well as the upgrade to the video switching.

That's likely a good option for those that want the video upgrade done anyway. I'm sure if you called them they'd be able to tell you if they wouldn't mind doing the BM fix at the same time

Someone recently reported that they'd had they're unit fixed at the Rotel shop and I know Erik had his done so yes they are doing them now...not sure on price but I tought it was $100.

Yes, they are doing the fix...I was just lucky to have mine done for free when they fixed my IR input that got "shocked" a while back. I do remember seeing the invoice with a $99 charge for the video upgrade...so $100 sounds about right. Just contact them and I bet they'll just take care of you for $100 + shipping. 8)

Hey Andrew - do you know if Rotel is planning to incorporate the bass mod on new receivers and processors (before they ship)?

I doubt it since that would involve redoing the owners manuals and honestly I think most buyers either wouldn't notice or wouldn't care since they'd have small speakers to begin with. Remember it was the dealer network that demanded the redirect be put in place to begin with :roll:

My receipt said $100 charged and 0 balance after being covered under warranty for doing the fix.
