Just looking for input on anyone who has used the video upconversion feature on the 1068.I have been contemplating whether to do this with a couple of my components.Right now i have my dtv tivo run with s-video to my tv and was curious if it would be worth running it through the rotel and then component cable to the tv.

Will be trying this exact test on Wednesday - when cables arrive ... will report back then!
So far the conversion from composite to component is not great. My initial impressions were little less critical but after watching it for a while and noticing the difference its quite marked and degraded. Seems the picture has been washed with a bright light, and there is more fuzzyness around the edges.
Need also to check something else re the component input & output. Had a DVD the other night that had a pale background and I hade some irregular vertical lines appearing in this background. I need to see if this is the DVD or the pass through of the signal by the 1068. Will report back as well on this as well. I have the DVD input set to video 2 and with prog to ON. If it is the 1068 I doubt the s-video conversion will be great, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt for now ...

Will be interested in your findings,i was maybe thinking that the s-video to component might be better given the better input signal.Havent tried it myself yet because its kinda tough to swap cables around without moving alot equipment.I guess i shouldnt expect to much from the 1068 on this video conversion the real stuff is in the sound and am very happy on that end.

Initial impressions - 1068 s-video -> component conversion, from digital TV decoder.
I cannot view the s-video is full pass through as my plasma has no input for it, so a "proper" conversion appraisal is not really possible, but I can comment on the resulting output, whether its the source I am seeing or the result of the conversion process I cannot say yet.
Well, its better ... and then its not. The picture is sharper & brighter but the colours are tinted - almost as though they are too bright and run out of bandwidth is the best way I could describe it. Also had my handycam connected via s-video and was not immeadiately impressed. This could be the handycam though (Sony PC120E). Again fine separation but colours looked tinted. Whites again appeared too bright. And if there was a fast moving scene ... oops not pretty. Picture generally more grainy than composite. Will compare the handycam s-video to its composite out and report back.
With digital tv decoder composite input the picture is softer but certainly easier on the eye in fast moving scenes etc ... and yes probably what I will go back to, but need to play some more first.
Ideally if the decoder output RGB, an RGB-> YUC convertor would do the job much better ... but alas no RGB from the decoder.
I also need to confirm some concerns I had with the component pass through of the prog scan DVD. Had a scene recently where in an opaque background some faint fuzzy vertical lines appeared. Have not noticed anything like this before when I had the dvd connected directly to the plasma display. Will test this at some point - but pretty time consuming getting the best set-up - leaves little time to actually sit back and relax to enjoy ...
Would be very interested to know just how the RSP passes through component prog scan input ?? Is it effectively a simple pass through or are there some electronics in the way ??
On balance the switching facility for me for now, is unfortunately, best avoided.
Will try set s-video as a prog scan source and see if it helps ...
Updates to follow...

by rosrosThe Rotel web site is updated to include the 1066 replacement, the 1068. They also have the 1068 manual online. Having both 1098 and 1066 inhouse (wished the 1068 was here), I compared features, sound and the manuals for the 1098 to the 1068 to the 1066; here are the differences: Note I own the 1066...-

by mhutchinsI have an old Proxima 5800 that has been great for the occasional presentation around town. I've decided to use it with my playstation 2 and I'm having mixed results. I've connected the Playstation to a VCR and connect to the 5800 via a Video component cable (the yellow one). At first the games run... -
by mkI have trouble with the conversion possibilities of the RSP 1098.
I connected a Satellite decoder to the RSP via a SVideo (mini DIN Cable) . I then use a SVideo link from "Monitor OUT Svideo" to a HT 1000 Projector, it works fine ..no conversion.
I want to try now the...-
