So I just purchased all new Rotel goodies recently. Hopefully with some background you guys can lend me hand. I purchased the 1098 along with the 1095 and my speakers are Klipsh Reference series...efficient but also quite revealing speakers. I had a Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver originally...no hum and then I started to roll in components. I rolled in the 1095 with the yami...no hum/hiss. But once I moved over to all components that's when I started having problems. I took the 1098 back to my dealer as I had the major center channel hum. They installed the video shield (apparently a rolling manufacturing change) and the major hum was gone. I have since updated the firmware/software to 2.12.
I put a dedicated circuit in my house because no of my outlets are grounded...well now I have one. Then I ran into problems with my cable as it was not grounded. Had serious hum and now it is gone by way of Monster 5100 line conditioner. I still have a slight hum and there is popping as I turn up the volume. This is really irritating as now that I didn't have this issue with my $600 yami not that I want to go back. I still have the hum/hiss/pop issue with everything plugged into my non-grounded outlet. If I turn the volume to "Min" there is still a slight hum. If I turn it up at all the hum is volume is tripled and there is hiss as well. Where do I start to isolate the problem?
