Humming, hissing and popping won't go away

So I just purchased all new Rotel goodies recently. Hopefully with some background you guys can lend me hand. I purchased the 1098 along with the 1095 and my speakers are Klipsh Reference series...efficient but also quite revealing speakers. I had a Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver originally...no hum and then I started to roll in components. I rolled in the 1095 with the yami...no hum/hiss. But once I moved over to all components that's when I started having problems. I took the 1098 back to my dealer as I had the major center channel hum. They installed the video shield (apparently a rolling manufacturing change) and the major hum was gone. I have since updated the firmware/software to 2.12.

I put a dedicated circuit in my house because no of my outlets are grounded...well now I have one. Then I ran into problems with my cable as it was not grounded. Had serious hum and now it is gone by way of Monster 5100 line conditioner. I still have a slight hum and there is popping as I turn up the volume. This is really irritating as now that I didn't have this issue with my $600 yami not that I want to go back. I still have the hum/hiss/pop issue with everything plugged into my non-grounded outlet. If I turn the volume to "Min" there is still a slight hum. If I turn it up at all the hum is volume is tripled and there is hiss as well. Where do I start to isolate the problem?

I think you answered the question when you said neither your outlets or cable is grounded. I would start by getting your cable company out to ground the cable coming into your house. See if this helps. I have a combination of grounded and ungrounded outlets in my house. Where my HT is plugged into is grounded, but I still got a hum from my 1095(All Black). Turned out 5 input resistors had to be replaced, now all is quiet.

        Hi egaither

I sure hope you are not running into the same kind of problem that I encountered with my RSP-1066. What you described matched my problem but mine only happen after 11/2 hours later. I sent my unit three(3) times to Rotel agent in Singapore but they could not find the problem. What's really strange with mine is twice I sent it to the shop, the problem didn't occur. Anyway, it finally happen when I was asked to bring it down to the show room for testing. Since they were unable to locate the problem and told me they have to replace the digital board and is rather expensive, I decided to buy a new unit, RSP-1068 instead - enough is enough with all the trouble I have gone through!

        Cheers!

The only item that isn't currently grounded is the sub. Could this be causing the problem? I have removed all cables associated with Cable/VCR. Still have the prob through all other sources.I have a calll into my dealer to see if they can help.

            egaither,

There are a number of members that have experienced hissing and popping through one of the following 3 causes:
            • Noise / stray current on your Earth or Neutral lines on the mains - this can long term also damage your equipment if at higher levels.
            • Heat where an amplifier below the processor is heating it up causing hisses and pops etc on the digital circuitry
            • Noise on RCA cables due to electrical interference etc with a poorly / inshiled cable running near the mains.

Given your wiring issues I would suggest that a specialist electrician check for the first of these.

1.) I'm receiving between 115-122V on my line conditioner. Is that what you mean? I was going to eventually purchase the monster AVS 2000 voltage stabilizer to go with.

2.) Amp sits on bottom shelf of my rack and processor is clear on top. The amp rarely gets even warm.

3.) Using tributaries interconnects and monster 12 gauge wire with gold leads.

I spoke to my dealer. They thought it could possibly be a couple of things. DVD laser not tracking properly and/or there is something wrong with the processor. I did notice when I played a dts audio dvd the other night that every once in a while audio would completely go away and come back a couple of seconds later. He mentioned I should reset both to default settings. I did the DVD tonight with no luck, so I need to write down all my settings before I reset to default on the processor side.

So I plugged my amp into a seperate outlet. I have two side by side. One is a new grounded circuit the other is not. Turning just the amp on I have slight hum..without the processor, dvd, tuner, etc. on with either outlet. Does the 1095 have a hum on efficient speakers in general? I can hear it 2-3 feet away. Just trying to resolve my issues one by one.

Yet another question about RSX-1067 hiss/pop
                  by rotelnyc2
                  Hey all!

I'm a first time Rotel owner, been eyeing the RSX since the introduction of the 1065. First off, I did find a good amount of info on the hiss/pop issue amongst the threads, but didn't find much info on my questions and issues specifically so I decided to start a new thread,...

                  9.1 Phono Hum and upgrade
                  by Punkuk
I have a 9.1 but using the phono input is imposable due to the hum.
I don’t think it is a ground loop as I have:
Disconnected everything but the phono input
Turned off all other power in the house except the power circuit for the Hi Fi
Used an MIT Z-Isolator for the power...

                  SOLUTION to my RB1080 hum!!!
                  by Al K
Thanks again to the club members that helped me determine the source of the hum through my speakers! ( As posted previously, hum appeared with the addition of a new RB1080 added to sysytem). The source in my case was the tv cable! I never mentioned how I permanently solved the problem!! So here is the...

Ground Loop Hum and the RSP-1066
                  by Daymond
Just got a 1066 and I am having a problem with what I think is Ground Loop Hum. I have the unit hooked up to a Monster PowerCenter HTS-3500MkII which is plugged in to a grounded outlet with all of my other components. I then disconnected the other components leaving only this processor plugged in along...

help with hum when connecting second sub
                  by Adam321
                  Hello,

I built a new sub which uses a pro amplifier. I decided I wanted to reconnect my old Velodyne sub back up as well to improve headroom. I used a y-adapter at the input of the proamp to daisy chain over to the old sub.

When I first turned everything back on I was...
