RDV-1060, I have heard/seen it

Last weekend, there was a Hifi show here in the Netherlands.

B&W Netherlands had a demo of the RDV-1060. The RSP-1098 was supposed to be there, however they did not manage to get it in time.

They also did spin some discs on both the 1080 and the 1060. The 1060 did sound very good, but it was too crowded to get a good impression. however picture via a Beamer was excellent. It is 12 Bit/54Mhz progressive (no PAL). The 1080 is 10 Bit/54Mhz.

The Europe version does have :

* An RGB scart, Svhs, composite and Component
* Region free as standard (like my own 985)
* List Price of 999 Euro's

And it look excellent as well. If only it could play SACD.....

I find it curious that they still dont have PAL progressive on a NEW machine. Most competitors are starting to offer it one their new models, but Rotel does not. Strange very strange.

Indeed... if only they put SACD on it ... i would sell my Onkyo right away and by that Rotel.

Almost 1000 euro sounds a good price. One can get it from germany even cheaper (Holland is expensive when it comes to sound equipment).

well, my Loewe Xelos TV does not accept Component inputs, so I do not really need progressive scan.

But prices are falling on LCD/Plasma screens. So as a future option is is want I want.

I know this is a Rotel group (and have been buying Rotel for may years, my first was a RA840-BX4 amp), but Denon is about to put out a very good multi player, the DVD-2900.

It does SACD via a speparate DSD board
It does CD/DVD-A/CDR-W/VideoCD and DVD
It uses Burr-Brown 1790 24bit/192 khz Dac's
I don't know if it does upsampling on CD
pal (upgradable) and NTSC progressive (12 bit 108 Mhz)
Scart, Svhs, component out
2 xdigital out

Very tempting to buy it together with the RSX-1055.....

If only Rotel would build a versitaile player like that....

Indeed it doesnt matter to American users since you only use NTSC. If I get a projector than I really want PAL progressive, because a large part of my dvd collection is PAL. Most new dvd's that I buy are NTSC.
