    Dead RR-969 and RSP-1066 comments

I picked up my RSP-1066 / RMB-1075 combo yesterday afternoon and started hooking everything up. Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet because I finished hooking up all of the components (and one speaker channel) in the middle of the night. In any case, here are a few comments thus far:

    (1) The RR-969 remote control worked fine out of the box by spontaneously stopped accepting any key touch input within a few hours. The LCD is active but pressing any key does nothing. I've already tried pulling the batteries out a couple of time as well as pressing the recessed Reset key, all to no avail. What happens is the remote will actually reset but then only accept one key press before locking up again! I'm going to bring it back to my dealer this afternoon. ARGH!

    (2) My RSP-1066 (bought new in sealed factory box-in-box) also came with a display screen that had a few scratches on it and the top left is chipped as well! It's only cosmetic, of course, but I'm concerned that this will be deemed by my dealer as "excessive wear & tear" if I go back within a year to take them up on the full-purchase price trade-in for a RSP-1098. I will, of course, discuss this my dealer as well...

    (3) I now see why people want to upgrade to the more recent version of the Firmware because I also can't stand seeing the Record Out Source on the front display. It just seems to make more sense to volume level there to begin with. Had the dealer order the cable for me from Rotel, who told him that it would be send via 2-Day shipping.

    That's about it for now.

    Comments...

    1) I've seen a dead 969 out of the box.. Rotel is subbing these remotes out, so quality could vary..

    2) Are you sure you've taken the plastic protective cover off the LCD screen?

    3) Yup.. But they do seem to have the habit of breaking something else with every upgrade.. Kevin D.

      (1) Having to slide the cover just to change inputs is also retarded; as is the flimsy feel of the cover itself. Am now debating whether to spend $110 to get my Pronto fixed or a bit more than double and buy a new one outright.

      (2) DOH! Didn't think to do that! 8O

      (3) Yup!

Not that it helps fixing your remote, but I picked up my RSP1066 yesterday and got the new RR-1050 with it
Its a huge remote ... I think they looked at Philips for poor usability of remotes (I sold my pronto, bcoz the thing is HUGE and normally Philips does a poor job at making remotes). There is no pc interface on it btw... i saw that they had that feature mentioned on the rotel website.

          by manini
          Hello,
When I connect my sub to de sub-out I have no sound out my subwoofer. It seems dead. I have my front's set to small, subwoofer to Yes in the menu.

The sub works fine on my old receiver, but on the rsp1066 it will not work.

I've bought the rsp1066 second hand....

          RR969 Battery Usage
          by princeoliver
I am just wondering how often most members change the battery on their RR969. I have this remote since the end of December and it is on its third set of AAAs already! The batteries on my TV, VCR, DVD remotes usually does not require changing for over a year or even two. I still use the other remotes...

          Remote dead?
          by KrisKeen
Argh so annoying. Remote is WORKING, its on, but it wont send a command to the RSP1066. I've reset the unit and now my mains are set incorrectly and the sub is on. Problem is, the OSD isnt working to allow me to change this

          Ideas???

          RSP1066 Vs RSP1068
          by wywong
          Hi,
I have an option of buying an RSP1066 or an RSP1068, the different in price is about $400. Can someone give me an opinion on whether it is worth the extra of $400 to get the RSP1068. I am currently using a Denon 3803 as a pre/processor and the RMB1075. Will this upgrade to the Rotel RSP1066...
