    DB25?

Maybe a dumb question, but I have no idea what exactly is the benefit/use of the DB25 (RS232), port on the back of some of the ROTEL products, like my RMB-1095.

    Anyone?

The easiest way to find something lost around the house, is to buy a replacement.

As long as people will accept crap, it will be financially profitable to dispense it.

Older rotel surround processors also had the DB 25 port. You could connect your pre-amp processor to your power amp with that one cable instead of having a cable for each channel.

The sound quality probably isn't as good, using the DB-25. I should check, I bet my OLD rsp-985 has a db-25 on the back.

the RSP-980 does have the DB25 connection. Back then, it may have been the only way, as I dont' think you weren't given separate RCA connections on the RSP-980 pre-processor, and RB-985 amp.

There's no real way this can be considered an advantage except for cord clutter. It's still unbalanced and in general, the quality of the wire isn't what you will get with high quality separate interconnects.

DB25 cable caused all my issues in RSP-985

Got a used 985 from an auction site. Looks perfect but had a hum on all inputs, all sources, on mute etc. If it was on, there was a hum. Also there was an audio 'hiccup'- like a 1/2 sec pause in sound every few minutes. My setup worked perfectly with an RTC965, nothing changed but swapping the 965...

          Using RMB-1095 DB25 connection question
          by ht_addict
First off is anyone using the DB25 connection on the 1095? Have you tried RCA cables? Any difference in sound?

I'm looking at replacing my RCA cables that I use to hookup between my pre/pro and 1095. Mainly to tidy up behind my rack. I'm interested in the CobaltCable DB25 to 6RCA

          Building a 5xRCA-DB25 cable
          by htmad
I would like to build a cable to connect the 5.1 output of my DVD player to the DB25 connector of my RSP 985, but I do not have the pin reference for the DB25 connector.

Is there anybody that has such pin reference?

          Thanks in advance.

          by fidalgoisland
Sorry if this has already been covered....could not find with search. Does anyone know if it works to connect the RCA 5.1 analog output on a DVD player to the DB25 5.1 analog input on the RSP-985 using a RCA<->DB25 cable? Objective is for SACD and/or DVD-Audio support.

          DB25 to RCA cable

Where can I get a DB25 to RCA cable?

Am planning to buy a Blu-Ray Profile 2.0 Panasonic DMP-BD50 player which has 6 5.1 channel analog RCA audio outputs. My Rotel RSX-965 is equipped with a DB25 25 pin 5.1 channel analog audio input.
