Ok, I have tried the Mute button on my neighbour's 1065 and it does not bring up the firmware!
How do you check the firmware version on the 1065?????

How in the world can this happen. I leave for work at about 7:30 am and leave the plasma and 1065 on so my wife can watch tv during the day. Long story, but I havent got the ir system working yet, so I cant teach her to turn everything on and off yet.

1) Is there a way to set the unit so that after pressing Mute, it will un-Mute on either a Vol + or Vol - command? From doing a search I see that the 1065's firmware has been updated to allow this. What about the 1055?

I am seriously considering the purchase of a Rotel 1065 receiver, and have been reviewing the posts on this forum. I note that there is a lot of info on the 1066+Amp, and 1055, but relatively little on the 1065. I will be using it with B&W N804, N805, and HTM2.
