    RSX 1055 DD/DTS downmix - help!

I am temporarily with out a center channel.

While watching Gladiator in DTS I selected DTS DOWNMIX with the 2CH button and this made the dialog louder and easier to understand.

I tried the same thing using DD on a couple of discs and it made no apparent difference. Is this normal?

Can anyone explain this and are there any other ways to improve dialog without a center ch?

First set the center channel to none in receiver speaker setup menu.

You can then use DD 5.1 from DVD menu and you should get full dialog from you mains. You can also use DD 2.0 from DVD menu and use DPII Cinema mode of the processor and get full dialog from mains. The first option should also work with DTS material as well. Look at page 30 of your manual for more information.

    Good luck,
    Maziar

      Hi all,

This is my first post :-)

I have recently bought a old RSX-1065. It works fine except when decoding DTS/DD and subwoofer is set to NO, I only have two large front speakers. When I do this a buzzing sound can be heard through the speakers and there is no bass at...

      RSX-1055 6.1/7.1 Downmix to 5.1?

I can't disable the rear center channel in the menu system (only options I have are 1 speaker or 2 speaker), so I'm wondering...does the receiver automatically downmix a 6.1 or 7.1 DTS ES/DD EX soundtrack to 5.1 if there is no amp connected to the rear center outputs or if the fronts were not redir...

What's the word big birds? I am joining this forum per the recommendation of a reviewer from audioreview.com that read my latest review. I have some qualms about my purchase as I used to be a faithful Marantz owner and it looks like this is the right place to rock.

      Not that you want to...

OK, since I'm new to my RSX-1055...

I will start this post so if I have other questions, I will use the same post instead of starting a new topic each time...

This time, When I play a DTS-ES DVD, I noticed that the front panel display shows different things.
