Does anyone happen to know the wiring diagram for hte RJ-45 based cable used to download the RSP-1066 from a PC? Is it something that can be made-up fairly inexpensively?

Mark, It's pretty easy.
I used a 6' cat5 cable I had laying around. I then used a DB-9 I took out of some of my old computer crap. The DB was one of those pieces that are used on the back plane of a computer, with an internal ribbon and header that connects to then serial port of a motherboard. I chose this becasue it was easy to get at (instead of having to X-Acto the rubber housing off of a cable end.) The pins were solder cups. The only other thing I needed (due to the DB being a male) was a M-M DB-9 adapter.
It took maybe 15 minutes. Works like charm. I used the information Andrew linked to above for the wiring reference.

The easiest way to find something lost around the house, is to buy a replacement.

As long as people will accept crap, it will be financially profitable to dispense it.
