    New Cables make me Happy!

Well I broke down and made new cables. I was going to buy CatCables but the exchange was the back breaker. Now I have a nice pair of Belden 89259/Neutrik for audio and Belden 1695/Canare for Component and Digital audio[whenever I get my 1055]. It's going to be fun breaking them in!

    Scope!

Congrats! Sounds like you used the right components to make them!

Thanks, I like the feeling of making my own gear. The highs and bass already sound much better, we'll see how a week of break-in sounds.

      Scope!

Well, at least the restaurant has a smoking section.
The peeing section is in the whole pool!

There isn't a smoking section anymore in my city. City bylaw prevents smoking in any indoor location, and provincial law forbids smoking within 10-15ft of any public building. I love it!!!

I just ordered my new Rotel system with Transparent cables. How long do you think it takes to "break them in?" I don't have a clue how to differentitate among cables so I took the store's recommendation. Hope I didn't get hooped

I'm no expert, you sould talk to Lex[Doug]. He runs CatCables. Basically I went out and found DIY recipes for cables on the web, Jon Risch designs that are popular with easy to find parts. How much did you pay for you cables and what did you buy?

That all depends what you paid Mr. Possum as to whether you got hosed. Perhaps you can click the bannerl below to CAT and evaluate your purchase against what I sell.

As to break in, proper conditioning involves an external device called a cable cooker. But general system break in is about 2 weeks of play.

Congrats on building your cables Scope.

                  Whitman,
From what I see on the news and all, those smoking bans are killing peoples bussiness "BIG TIME".
Hope the cables work out well for you.

Could you please email at pglover@biznet.net. I have some questions about making cables.

Just broke down and ordered SilverCats for all 7 channels. I have been using RatShack cables for interconnects - they sounded fine to me, but I've got the fever, so here goes.

Ahh, so that was you Howie! Cool. 8) Thanks a lot. I'll get those in production soon.

Perry, if you have a question, I'll be glad to try and answer it. I'll defer to the others on the parts, as retail parts is not my thing. But as far as instructions on making them, I will help as I have time.

You might also check a sister site of HTG, that not many know about likely:

Cable Synergy I wrote what you see there, just giving a little something back.

Lex, if you ever design a new subwoofer cable, how 'bout calling it ThunderCats? Sorry, I just had to! Hope you have a sense of humor.

Actually, I did have a Thundercat Digital cable, but I recently obsoleted it, due to slow sales, and production difficulties with the model. Thundercat name may be back yet, time will tell.

But I DO get it, and good one!

I've been reading the rsx-1055 manual and from what I understand you can direct the front left/right channels to drive rear channels. You have to have a seperate stereo amp to run the front mains in this case. I'm curious because I want to keep my RB-991 to run my mains.
