I currently use the RC 995 preamp. Its a very musical preamp that doesn't lack a lot compared to high end preamps I've heard. But I'm wondering about upgrading to the RC 1590. Any comments on the 1590? Is it too very musical or does it lack compared to their older preamps like my 995? I need tape inputs and outputs, as I'm aware the 1590 does have 1 set of these connections, though not labelled tape. But the 995 is more friendly for taping with its 2 tape selections and separate source setting compared to what you can listen to on the preamp. I just want to see if getting the 1590 would be worth it, especially since the cost is much higher. I do like the D/A stage in the preamp which I would make use of. But I'm an analog guy and wouldn't want the preamp to mess with the sound.
Upgrade to RC 1590 Preamp or stick with RC 995?

by minerWhen I was looking to replace my RC-1090 pre (because I thought it got damaged by lightning) I replaced it with a RC-1550. I compared it to the RC-1580 but could not hear any difference using the same amp (RB-1580) so I could not justify the extra $600 cost. I am hearing a possibility of a RB-1590...-

I've just treated myself to a RC-1590 preamp for my music listening setup. The rest of the setup is a Rotel RB-1090 power amp, my old but still great and trusted Bowers & Wilkins DM640 floorstanders...-

by bigburnerI have recently purchased a Rotel RC-1590 preamp. The RC-1590 includes an in-built DAC that supports asynchronous USB input. I have connected my Windows/iTunes laptop to the RC-1590 via USB. Rotel supplies PC-USB driver software to support the playback of hi-res music files, and I have installed...-

by bniemanI just bought a pair of N805 bookshelf speakers for use in my home office which I am running with a Rotel RC-995 Preamp and RB-9808X amp. I love it already but my sound card is the weakest link in the chain. I am currently using a Sound Blaster Audigy 1 as my source from the computer.

by AudioblissI have had RC 1580, 1570, but just got the 1590 after a year or two trying other preamp.
I have it about two weeks, and its great. I just have one issue.
It makes s clicking sound when watching TV using the coax input.
It only happens between commercials, and only on some channels....-
