    RSP 1068 with 4K TV

I am looking to replace a broken RSP 1068, which I have not had hooked up as a home theater. I recently purchased a new Samsung 4K TV and am looking for advice on whether or not I need to upgrade to something with HDMI in order to use my system as a home theater. My primary concern is 2 channel music. Home theater is a distant second. 99% of what we watch is on Netflix/Hulu, etc. I have a Roku, but now access streaming sites through the TV. My question: am I able to hook the TV up to an RSP 1068 (I would consider replacing my broken processor with the same model) and get 5.1 sound for streaming video?

    Thanks- Austin

I am going to hope (and assume) that your new TV has an optical (Toslink) output on the back? If it does, you could send the signal to your amp that way to get 5.1 surround sound. Easy peasy !

What he said. I have had a Samsung 4k tv for a couple of years now. All my video sources go straight to the TV and all audio sources go straight to the RSP1068. HDMI/ARC still has sync issues with picture and audio with almost every review I read in the forums.

Yes, it does. I had tried with the semi-broken unit and it did not work, so I wanted to make sure that it should work before I purchase another. Thanks!

So...I purchased a used unit. Everything seems to work fine, though I cannot get the Toslink connection to work. I have tried through both V4 and V5 and toggled through all settings with no sound. Sound on the TV is set to "Optical". Right now I only have two speakers hooked up, along with a REL sub- not sure if that would make any difference. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Result from firmware upgrade on RSP-1068
              by metallo
I often follow the rule "Don't fix what ain't broken" and i really didn't have any reason for upgrading the firmware for my RSP-1068, everything worked fine, I think it was version 1.1.9.

I never has been pleased with the stereo performance except in "analog bypass"....

Well I finally plunge. I bought a Parasound A52 & a Rotel RSp 1068 this weekend. My credit card hurts but my ears and eyes love it

Anyways, I am having a problem with up-conversion of my tv box. In Other Options, I set progressive to V1 (DVD). The TV box is connected to Video 4....

Questions and thoughts / Rotel RSP-1068
              by metallo
              Background,
I have for a while tried to decide witch component that will decode the audio (only 2ch stereo), Rotel RSP-1068 vs Denon DVD-2910. I have mediocre interconnections (~$50 per cable), and a Rotel RMB-1075 amplifier (biamped) to Infinity renaissance 90 (about $3600 in the -90/-95),...

              RSP-1068 video quality problems
              by hired goon
              G'day,

I think the video handling of my Rotel RSP-1068 pre/pro is acting up,

I've got an old TV, which only accepts composite input, and is non-progressive. I've got a set-top box connected via composite to Video 1, a VCR connected via composite to Video 3, and a DVD connected...

Is the RSP-1098 sonically superior to the RSP-1068?
              by wirebrat
              Hi All,

I am a happy RSP-1068 owner. When I purchased it, I wanted the RSP-1098 but could not afford it. I now have the opportunity to upgrade for a reasonable premium. Aside from the TFT and perhaps some additional ins/outs, is there any sonic difference between the two?
