Okay - as a car analogy has already been posted...

No, but you can take a Toyota engine, build your own running gear, suspension, chasis and body around it and it becomes a Lotus Elise. This is similar to Primare and Cambridge Audio utilising parts built by Oppo (which to all intents and purposes is Mediatek's creation anyway!)

Or another analogy - Skoda and Seat and Audi take various parts designed by Volkswagen to create their cars; but we accept that an Audi A3 is NOT just a Volkswagen Golf (Rabit for you in America) is not a Skoda Octavia is not a Seat Leon.

Anyway, thats the last I'm going to post on Oppo as (as was pointed out several posts ago) this started as a thread about Rotel and it's turning into a discussion on cars.

Bad comparison and analogy Eloise. VW owns Seat, Audi and Skoda, along with Lambo, Bentley, Bugatti, Porsche, MAN and Scania! VW can put a Golf engine in a Lambo if they wanted too because VW is the parent company. Not that they would commit such sacrilege, but they could. On the other hand, Oppo does not own Primare or Cambridge Audio, so it's a completely different dynamic.

Again, this is a Rotel thread so let's talk Rotel...... Despite the fact that Rotel refuses to incorporate Auto Room Correction, I'm still have an affinity for the RSP-1572. I say this because, I have been very satisfied with the RSP-1069. I love the Rotel aesthetic and the no nonsense approach to functionality. What gives me pause from buying one is that you can never predict the future. With my luck, I acquire a 1572 and 3 months later a new pre-pro is introduced by Rotel and not only will it have room correction tech Aud. MultEQ XT32, it will also be 4K capable with 32 bit DAC's!

I'm not going to say that my rig is extensive when it comes to the number of devices in the ensemble, but I have 6 HDMI capable devices. all routed thru the RSP-1069. I'm even using an additional outboard HDMI switcher to accommodate three of the devices which the output is routed to the 1069's 4th HDMI input. I mention all of that to say that I've never ever had a handshake problem with any of my devices when connected to the Rotel. So it really makes me scratch my head when I read all of the horror stories associated with the 1570 and 1572. I know that many owners of the 1069 had their share of issues also, but fortunately, I haven't had the experience. I dig the 1572 because of the 6 HDMI inputs, the 1.4a HDMI stage and the fact that regardless of it's perceived shortcomings, it's the best looking pre-pro out there (my opinion, of course). I have my eye on one and I'm considering purchasing it but at $1799, that's some heavy coin to lay out on what could easily be obsolete by the holidays! Maybe obsolete is too dramatic. Let's just say outdated!

I'm more disappointed at my dealer than I am Rotel, simply because I only see one or two products from the 15 series on display to actually demo! When I first got into stereo music like five years ago, the place had tons of Rotel stuff on the shelves. Seeing the units out there on display and actually being able to hear them enticed my wallet that much more. It was the RCD-1072, RC-1082, RB-1090, the receivers, etc. pretty much everything I bought. Now it's only a RC-1580 preamp and Class D digital amp. The RCD-1520 which I've been inquiring about since 2009 has never gotten in. It seems like the digital gateway product, something which has always interested me, will never make it to this side of the coast. To their credit, they still push B&W so at least it keeps the parent company happy. I understand the current economy is in the tank and stores are more conservative now when it comes to displaying products, but if I was in this position five years ago looking to buy my first stereo and only saw 2 Rotel products at the store, I'd probably have passed and got something else.

My RMB1075 is driving my Sur, Front and Center and RB1050 drives back Sur. my fronts are CDM9NT. I do run 7.1 setup for HT and stereo for music, I have noticed that my 9NTs don't have allot of life in stereo mode. Spoke to my Rotel dealer and he agrees that 9NTs require more power....

Rotel RB1070 vs Rotel RB1090 review
              by Joey_V
I'm going to write a little bit about these 2 Rotel amps from my experience with both in my system at the same time.

              Setup:
              SqueezeBox3 -> Rotel RC1070 preamp -> Rotel RB1070/Rotel RB1090 -> Martin Logan Summits -> Joey's ears

              Build:
              The 1070 is...

              Is a bi-amped Rb1080 as good Rb1090
              by carlsen
              I currently have a Rotel Rb1090 driving two Aussie mainspeakers ( Vaf I-93 Signatures ) and a Rotel RMB1095 driving the centre and 4 surrounds ( Vaf I-91's ).

I am awaiting delivery of a singular horizontal version of the mainspeakers ( I-93) to replace my current centre channel. Now,...

Heard the RB1090 and RB1091 side by side...
              by Joey_V
Today, I just got back from hearing the 1090 and 1091/1092 amps duke it out with the BW802D... side by side. I must say, I preferred the RB1090 by a good margin. I thought that the 1090 took better control of the 802D in ALL aspects, from the bass to the diamond tweeter. The 1090 had greater stage...
