I like the look of the RSP but agree on the appearance of the RB. And we've had a bit of a debate on the RB previously - by all accounts it appears to be a cosmetic "upgrade" only. Maybe has some updated components but the specs are identical unless that's been updated from a few months ago.Originally posted by PewterTA

Yeah, but Bill.... You KNOW what simple improvements could've been made to the RB-1090 to make it sound like MUCH MORE of an amp than what it even is....
Just think of the simple mods before and after I touched your RB-1090... IF they would even do that...people would consider it a whole new amp and being upgraded and wow what an improvement over the old RB-1090... and it matches the 15 series cosmetically!!!! HA HA HA.
Hopefully Rotel did the right thing and made it even better!!Digital Audio makes me Happy.

The rsp1580 has been available in Australia for over a year now, and in fact I have been awaiting the release of the rsp1582 to be announced ( still secretly hoping they will include audessy or similar ).
For some reason the rsp1580 was released here in priority to other markets, whereas usually we would be the last to receive anything. Can be purchased for just under $4000 Australian at the moment.Comment

I must be confused, or someone else maybe confused as I just saw two websites in Australia announcing the release of the Rotel RSP1580 in Australia for sale now , retail $4,199 Aust(RRP). I thought it had been effectively canned!!!

Today, I just got back from hearing the 1090 and 1091/1092 amps duke it out with the BW802D... side by side. I must say, I preferred the RB1090 by a good margin. I thought that the 1090 took better control of the 802D in ALL aspects, from the bass to the diamond tweeter. The 1090 had greater stage... -
I recently bought an RB1080. My speakers are 2.5 ohms, and I have to put a 200W non-inductive resistor in series with one side of the speaker cable to bring it up to 6.5 ohms, which the RB1080 handles just fine (It did NOT like 2 ohms and now I see in the specs the RB1080 works only down to 4 ohm, not... -
