Rotel rdv-1080: Firmware / DTS problem

When playing DVD's with a DTS soundtrack the picture stutters and jerks. This problem Is not consistant as some DTS disks are ok. and the problem DVD's stutter at random. (when playing the same scene the problem Is there but not In the same place). DD DVD's are OK, I have tried R1 and R2 DVD's.

I have red the problem can be solved with a new firmware.

How can you check the current firmware version on the player ?

What's the latest one Rotel released and does it solve the DTS issue ?
I've heard that it introduces other problems but have no specific info.

I 'm in Belgium, dvd R2. Does anyone have the latest update disc ( UK R2 version )

Can I update it myself as obviously the player is out of warranty ?

    Thanks,

    nico

      Hi,

Yes I have. Their service center here doesn't have the upgrade CD and actually they don't service these player anymore. Which is locical given it's so old.

I bought the player a few weeks ago 2nd hand for a bargain.
Anyway, I don't want to spend more money for a firmware upgrade than I gave on the player.

It plays DVD-Audio, DVD, Dolby Digital fine.

Well....I would honestly just play the DD tracks on dvd's in this case. Although DTS is a superior sounding format, it looks like you are going to have to settle for DD moving forward, which in itself is not all that bad to be honest.

For the last couple of weeks my 1098 has been giving me an odd quirk in that it would seemingly loose the connection to a digital device and force me to refind it or just cycle the power on it. RDV-1060: Flickering/double subtiles with DTS audio
          by nvdeynde
          Hi,

My Rotel RDV-1060 DVD player has a subtile problem with DVD discs when I select the DTS audio Track and turn subtitles.

8 ot of 10 discs have this problem: it are the movies that use small font subtiles like most of the wide-screen 16:9 one's.

          The subtitles...

          Hi all,
