Potential Sampling Rate or DAC Issue on Rotel 1570

    Hello,

I'm having some issues with my Rotel 1570 when the sampling/bit rate of sources switch.

I have a SqueezeBox Touch connected via digital toslink directly to the Rotel.
There is no analog connection made.

Often if I play a 96Khz or 88Khz 24 bit source, and then select a 16Bit 44.1 KHz redbook source/song, the song becomes distorted. All songs are being played on the SqueezeBox connected to the same input BTY.
The only way I can get the audio back, is to power down the Rotel and restart.

Resetting the Logitech Squeezebox doesn't correct the issue.

I also have the luxury of trying the Squeezebox directly with the same cable to an Arcam rDac external DAC, which is connected to the Rotel via analog.
There are never any issues. I've also tried a different cable to the Rotel - same issue.

So....to me it appears the Rotel DAC's are potentially at fault here. Or could it be the Squeezebox Touch?

    Any suggestions?

So switching to a different input and then back doesn't help?

      No, it remains garbled.
I didn't physically try a different coax input on back of the unit however.

Correction Kevin.....a switch of inputs DOES correct the problem.
        Sorry about the confusion.

Any suggestions - is it a warranty issue or a quirky issue in your opinion?

        I can replicate it.

Sounds like a 'quirk' to me. Once the Rotel decides what the input is at the conception, it decides to stay there unless the input is changed and changed back. Any adjustments I make to my Rotel stay the same until I manually change them or change the input switch. It's just the nature of the Rotel beast !!! :W

            CM9 and Rotel ? class D or A/B
            by M&B
My husband and I have fallen in love with the CM9s and the Rotel system. We were all set with the 1575 and 1570 rotel amp but have recently been advised to go back to the 1550/1582 stereo system by the only sales guy we can find that seems to be able to offer both. Part of the problem is that we haven't...

Hi to all you Rotel members, this is my first post here. After years of passing over Rotel for other brands, I finally decided to give it a try. I have owned those three units for over a month now, and I must say I regret not doing it before.
I have been in search for a satisfying two channel...
