    Rotel Rb991 Help Please

    Hi all,
just got my fathers rotel rb991 power amp and rotel rc972 pre out of the loft!!
To connect i used on the pre, left from one side and right from the other(this is what i got told of a friend) This is because im using only one power amp.
And into the unbalanced section on the amp, is this correct?

The most important question is the power gets quite hot even when on low volume!! is this correct? Semms to be rather hot to me?
    Thankyou

There are two pairs of outputs labeled 1 and 2. When you say "left from one side and right from the other" do you mean you're using the Left from Output 1 and the Right from Output 2 (or vice-versa)? If so, there would absolutely be no reason to do that, just connect the preamp's Output 1 Left and Right to the power amp's unbalanced RCA inputs.

The Output 2 pair might be used to connect a second power amp for bi-amping, a subwoofer, a headphone amplifier, etc.

However, I don't think that would cause your power amp to run hot either way. If the amplifier has adequate clearance and ventilation and it's running abnormally hot, then it might need to have it's bias adjusted or otherwise looked at by a qualified service technician.
