    rc 1550 Pre Amp

    I recently ordered a ROTEL RC 1550 Pre Amp to go with a ROTEL RB 991 Power Amp which will drive a pair of B&W CM9's. The question I have is I noticed that the pre amp has 2 pairs of rca outputs on the back panel, what purpose would that serve ??

      They might be used to

      1. Send a full-range signal to a subwoofer (to be low-pass filtered by the subwoofer's crossover)

      2. To drive a second power amplifier for passive bi-amplification

      3. To drive a higher quality external headphone amplifier

              Hi pcking

              you are in for a treat, it's a very good sounding preamp, I have it with the poweramp RB1552, the combo sounds fantastic. would you let us know how it sounds with the B&W?

                      I have a Rotel RC 1550 Pre Amp and was wondering is it possible to add a HT
                      Bypass switch/filter,because I use the pre outs from my AVR to the Pre amp
                      and both volume levels have to be set very high during playback.I know the RC 1580 has this function.

                      Why would using a pre/pro + amp still deliver "better" sound quality than a receiver + amp? If a amp was connected to a receiver, wouldn't the onboard amp on the receiver basically be disabled? if this is the case why is it still better to use a dedicated pre/pro than a receiver?

                      What do you use between your Classe PRE/CD/AMP RCA or XLR?

                      My distance from the CD to AMP is only 1m, so I am tempted to use RCA, however I have heard XLR can give 2-3db more output.
