    rsp-1068 vs rsp-1069 2channel

Have a room I can't do full surround in, so I currently have the Oppo BDP-83se, with the dedicated 2-channel, connected to an rsp-1066/rmb-1075' and I'm thinking doing a modest upgrade to an rsp-1068, or rsp-1069. My question is this, is there a significant difference in the 2-channel audio performance of the 1069 over the 1068?

    Thanks.

There was a noticeable difference in the sound floor to me as I can recall.
The 1069 was dead quiet vs the 1068 that was not. The soundstage was also much wider. Was it a huge difference - not really. However, like everything in this hobby, marginal returns.

The big difference was the 1069's ability to support the HDMI lossless codecs.

It depends on how much extra money it would cost to get the 1069.
Personally, I'd spring for the 1069 over the 1068.

      You’re on the right path.

I have owned the RSP-1066 for many years of reliable & satisfactory performance for watching TV & movies.

However, its 2-ch performance is marginal at best, IMHO.
      I use a separate pre-amp for delivering the R & L main signals to thier own pwr-amp.

I don’t fault the 1066, it was designed with many functions in its repertoire, with multi-ch use outweighing 2-ch competency.

I predict regardless of your choice, you will be pleasantly rewarded for your efforts.

      As always, YMMV, JMHO.

      Enjoy!

Why not just buy an actual stereo preamp?

                  madmac,

i have not comared the two. but the paradigms ref studio 100 v2 ran by the rsp-1068 & rmb-1075. the energy rc-30's are ran by the rsp-1066 & rmb-1075. the 2-channel system is ran by a yamaha rvx-657 reciever with another pair of energy rc-30's.

1066 & energy are in the bedroom. perfect rectangular room small & compact
1068 & paradigm are in the living room. very open area, dining & living rooms are connected.
yamaha & energy is in the same room as the 1068.

i'm on vacation starting tomorrow. i'm going to hook the 2-channel system to a rotel rsp-985 & rb mkii. i'll do a comparison next week.

but now the energy & yamaha does sound great. smooth jazz is my choice of music. but i'm 80% HT & 19% music.
