    RSX-1067 memory loss

I have a Rotel RSX-1067 that is in pristine shape. However whenever I lose power to my house or unplug the unit, even just for a second all the settings I have programed in erase and go back to factory settings. I was told by Rotel's technicians it's most likely a bad capacitor that keeps the memory saved. Can anyone tell me where the capacitor is located, and what the number it would be on the board? IE "C1052" or such. Thank you. ~Joe

I've replaced these in a few units, though not in any Rotels (yet). They are typically a 0.1 Farad 5.5V "supercapacitor," usually a small round disc or a rectangular package. Often when they fail they leak or break open, so that might make it easier to find as well. They always seem to crap out after 5-10 years or so.

As for where it's located... I've seen them in various places. On an old Sherwood it was on the power supply board. In an old Onkyo it was on the display board, of all places. You'd think it would be on the main board, and that's always a good first place to look, but you'd be surprised. Good luck finding it.

I'm assuming you have the most current firmware if you've talked to Rotel's tech support. If you don't, there was an update to fix that specific issue.

My RSX-972 loses memory all the time when there is an outage. Since my AVR isn't firmware updatable that I know of, how would my issue get fixed?

Email Rotel tech support. They emailed me a schematics which identified the part that required replacement. I then proceeded to my Rotel dealer to get it fixed.

          Good luck!

            Abit AT7 KT333 Board
            by Bing Fung

I'm not sure what to quite think of the new ABit Max boards :? :?: Certainly I have been anticipating the new KT333 from Abit, however this one is far removed from what I would have expected. Abit has always stayed away from integration on their flagship boards, yet...

Upgrading from B&K AVR307 to RSX1067 worth it?
            by Dmantis
            Ok,
Let me start out by saying I loved the rsx1065 and the combo of the rsp1066 and rmb1075. I own a B&K avr307 and thinking of coming back to Rotel. The rsx1067 caught my eye as did the rsp1067. Seperates would be the way to go a but the rsx1067 is so good in my opnion that I would consider...

            RSX-1067 digital board
            by mitka
            Hi,

RSX-1067 developed horrendous electrostatic pops (thru speakers) that disappear in bypass mode.
From that I concluded that the issue is with digital board, part number PCB 016 E-1399C00.
Rotel sells these for $575 which I don't want to spend given the age of the unit....

            rsx1067 vs rsp1068/rb993/rb985mkII
            by JRambo
Hi, I recently read in a home-theater magazine that the Rotel rsx1067 was their first choice in the heavy-receiver class.. How will this receiver compare to a setup with rsp1068, rb993 and rb985mkII, when it comes to sound quality, as the price for these two setups will be about the same..
