The Energy C-300 is an 89dB, 8ohm nominal, 4ohm minimum speaker. Should be a very easy load for the RMB-1075.

There is a little more to it beyond impedance and sensitivity specifications, as the size of of capacitors, inductors and phase angles in the crossover circuit can make some speakers of similar specifications more "power hungry" than others, but in general provides a good rule-of-thumb comparison, particularly if the minimum impedance is also specified.

The RMB-1075 has no problem driving impedances down to 4ohms, and with medium efficiency speakers like these, in the 89dB - 91dB range, it shouldn't break too much of a sweat.

          Steve,

last thing, im getting a deal on rc-30: http://www.energy-speakers.com/na-en...c-30-overview/

if the rmb-1075 can handle the rc-30 it's a done deal.

The RC-30 specs are the same as the C-300: 89dB, 8ohm nominal, 4ohm minimum.

            Done deal.

I agree w/steve on the efficiency argument. You DO need an increase of 3dB to notice a difference in percieved loudness. Every thing else being equal, that demands double the power to produce.

I think what Steve means in his 2nd paragraph, more drivers and/or more XO components can make for a more complex load.

For sure, more drivers, especially woofers, will mean more back EMF-the drivers sending voltage TO the amp.

If XO component tolerances "line-up" just right, it will "ring" or resonate. Some amps handle these issues better than others. Rotel amps handle complex loads better than most, if not all, of their similar priced/rated* competition and some of their up-scale competition.

I am a long time owner of some small towers from Energy's pre-Veritas flagship line, the 22 series. I sold Rotel as a dealer through most of the 90s, and found their amps to have very few issues even with tough loads like Magnepans.

Energy speakers should be an easy load for any but the most basic rack-system type receivers. C-series is the former Connoisseur series, which are an excellent value.

Hopefully you took the advice of the previous posters and you are already enjoying these spakers on your Rotel rig.

Zaph's blog has an interesting and amusing new entry here:

                    http://www.zaphaudio.com/blog.html

I read it with great interest, being a fan of Energy speakers. As a matter of fact, I think that not being able to afford a pair of Veritas was part of the reason I got into DIY...

                    McIntosh C2300, C500 et C1000 !

                    Hello everyone,

I started this about wanting to have some clarification on the record to listen between the three pre McIntosh, the C2300, the C500 and C1000, both in terms of openness, depth (soundstage) than stamps. What interests me is primarily what differentiates them.

Question about adding a second amp to my RMB1075
                    by nash
I've currently got an RMB1075 and an RSP1066 with Definitive Technology speakers. I've ordered some new towers for the main L/R (Def Tech 7001SC's) which should be a considerable upgrade from my current towers (Def Tech ProTower 400's). I am going to move my ProTower 400's to the rear.

                    As the topic says...

Is it possible to bi-amp RMB1075 with zone 2?

I have RSP1068/RMB1075 kombo and i have connected Front Left/Right as usual... but what happens if i connect zone 2 Left/Right output to RMB1075 Left/Right surround and bi-amp the speakers?
