    Rotel RSP-1066 heat issue?

    Hello,

I read in a review somewhere that this unit got pretty hot. I am looking at getting one of these to use as a 6 ch preamp in an active xover setup.
Multi input selected on the front panel -- 6 ch into the multi input jacks from my xover -- volume control -- 6 ch pre out to my amps. It will go in a cab that allows 2" on each side and 3" over the top of the unit. I'm hopeful that by keeping it simple (no processing) heat issues can be avoided. Would appreciate your thoughts.

    Thank you

I don't think it gets hot because its busy, I think it gets hot because its a class a pre-amp. Air circulation is the key though, it should have a bit of space around it, or forced air cooling when closed in. A couple of inches above and on the sides is probably OK. You can monitor it by putting your hand on the top cover, if it gets hot to touch, you should consider adding a fan!

Title pretty much says it all. Whenever I see a thead about a rotel component running hot I always check my 1068 and sure enough its always hot to the touch. When the weather is hot it gets hot enough where I wouldnt want to keep my hand on it for any length of time (my apartment has terrible air...

      How hot is too hot?
      by Stevebez
Got all my kit in a now fan ventilated wooden cabinet. All units run at varying degrees of heat, the RSP1066 probably the hottest then the 1080 and then the 1075.

Was wondering what is too hot? Genrally the 1066 is pretty hot to the touch but not too hot to touch. I assume this is...

RSP1066- How hot should it get??
      by gopies
      Hi guys,
I have had a custom made AV rack for my Rotel gear (see images). I have noticed that the 1066 gets quite warm - moreso than the RMB1075. When I had all my equipment on the floor I recall that the amp would get a bit warm but honestly can't recall how hot the 1066 would get.

RB 1080 Fuses and Heat (Long post)

I've owned the RB1080 since March 2004. I believe it is what is referred to as version 3-it has the dual "WBT-like" speaker binding posts.
After over a year of use (listening to classical, chamber, rock, jazz at "healthy" volumes) I lost the right channel.
