1068 runs very hot - has never shutdown

Title pretty much says it all. Whenever I see a thead about a rotel component running hot I always check my 1068 and sure enough its always hot to the touch. When the weather is hot it gets hot enough where I wouldnt want to keep my hand on it for any length of time (my apartment has terrible air flow and with the energy costs going out of control I only use the AC for sleeping).

I have never had any issues with the 1068 shutting down or going into standby. Never had it pop, click, strain, etc so I tend not to worry about it. In fact, yesterday was the first time I felt maybe I should give it a break and didnt have it on most of day. Bear in mind when I am home the whole system is on since it gets used for tv (in addition to movies/music). I am a bit of TV junkie so its on often.

Just wanted to post my experience with heat and the 1068. Like I said, there has never been an issue with the unit but I guess there could some long term effect. For reference I do have a very open audio rack - a salamander archetype.

Build yourself some custom fans for the unit to help cool it!

        RSP-1068 Runs Hot?
        by RAS
I've been enjoying my 1068 for a couple weeks now, and continue to tweak and adjust various elements of my new system.

One thing I've noticed is that the 1068 is quite hot to the touch after operating for a couple hours. This is a bit of a surprise being a pre/pro only. And all amps are...

        New RC-1070 & RB-1080 user VERY HAPPY
        by jayrobinson

I just bought a Rotel RC-1070, RB-1080, RT-1080, and RCD-1072 system a month ago and just wanted to say how happy I am with it and how impressed I am with the sound quality. Everyone here loves the sound it gives out. I wish I would have bought this system over a year ago when I...

1068 runs too hot - worried!
        by bluesfan
Why does the 1068 gets so hot? After 1 hour music and 3 hours movie at around 40db the top is so hot you can't keep your hand on it.

It must be cooking the components in there and heading for a limited life.

Is this normal? If so it's not good and bad design. Not...

        RSP 1068 Trouble
        by mhoyt
        Hi,

I am new to HTGuide so I apologize if this is a re-run of an older thread.

I have a Rotel RSP-1068 that I purchased a few years ago. Its suddenly having a lot of problems. The Front L/R channels are dead and occasionally it appears to just lose sync with the audio source...
