Hi all,
I own RSX-1055 and RDV-1060. I have had them for 5+ years now. Both have been consistently unreliable. RSX-1055 broke a couple of times and has been fixed. The CD player also broke once and has been fixed as well.
Last week, when I turned on the RSX-1055, it made popping noises. It wouldn't play from any source (tuner, cd etc.). When I turn up/down the volume, it makes popping/clicking noises. I switched speakers to another receiver (thank goodness its not Rotel) and it works fine.
Any ideas as to what the problem could be? The unit is out of warranty. I am trying to see if there are things I can do before taking it to the local dealer. A reset? Also wondering if its worth spending any money on this. :-( I don't know what the worst case scenario would cost me on this receiver.
I am not trying to bash Rotel. Based on my own personal experience -- Rotel is not reliable and durable. It sure sounds nice when its working. I paid roughly $1100 for this unit.
Also, would love if any of you know how to get in touch with their CEO. I own various brands of electronics -- Panasonic, Yamaha, Bose, Sony, Toshiba etc. I never had this many problems with any of these brands. If I paid $1100+ for a single component, I would expect it to last a long time.
Thanks for any pointers and help. Again, I am not trying to bash Rotel. I realize there are a lot of folks here that love Rotel. I am just a frustrated consumer that feels like I have been shafted by Rotel.
