Turntables - Old Rotel or New Other

    Anyone have a Rotel turntable?

Would you go with an older Rotel like the RP-5300 with a new cartridge or one of the entry level Rega or Project’s?

It will be with a Bellari VP130, the 1069, and CM7’s.

    Thanks.

Rotels 955 and the equivalent 8 series were all great turntables. However they are hard to find. The problem is that even in vinyl things have evolved. Even with a good Ortofon cartridge, newer players will outperform it.

If you are looking for a player up to $400 I would recommend Pro-ject's excellent RMP 5.

Standard it comes with a Ortofon Red MM cartridge and an upgrade would be a high or low output MC cartrigde.

        agreed.

I too, would find it easy to reccomend one of the entry level Pro-Ject's, Music Hall's (made in the same factory as the P-J's, BTW) or the Reg P1. Any of these would work well with your choosen pre.

        as always, IMHO & YMMV

Has anyone any experience with these players?

Went with the Rega P1, it will be here Friday. Can't wait. The wife is out of town and the Radiohead re-releases are stacked next to the cabinet. Life is good.
