    my rb-1080

    hey guys

i know its like me saying to a blind person that i can see but id just like to share that my RB-1080 has never skipped a beat since i got it about 5 years ago. it has never shut off because of over heating or by driving it too hard. ive been pumping let it bleed by the rollingstones now for neary a half an hour, i felt it and its barley warm. the fuses have never gone except for the time the speakers wires crossed. i love it, my fave posession.

I too, have had a 1080 for about two years and have not had the slightest problem. Mine does get hot (compared to the 1090) but I have installed PC type fans at the rear of the Amp cabinet and they blow across the output transistor area of each amp.
The 1080 used to power my fronts but now the 1090 does that and the 1080 is used to bi-amp the centre. I also have a RMB1095 and I love them all.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission...

I've been using three RB1080's for surround channel duties for about 5 years now. It's a bit of an overkill, I bought one to power my mains, then I bought another one, then another one, so I ended up using them all for surrounds. I have one spare channel on an amp that I'd like to drive a 2nd center channel speaker. Not sure how I go about splitting a single center channel XLR line output to both center amp channels. Any ideas?
p.s. change your stock fuses in these amps to an audiophile fuse (AHP, Hi-fi Tuning etc), it's worth it.

And what is the benefit of swapping out the fuses?

You'll hear a marked improvement, no question about it. I put AHP fuses in all my RB1080's and on first listening there was a new presence to the music, with extended dynamics not previously heard. It brought the Rotel amps up a magnitude in level closer to the performance I get from my main amp, which is worth considerably more than the Rotel's. All because of a simple fuse change.

So impressed I have just gone and bought some more fuses to try in other components.

              1080 vs 1090 for 803's in 22' x 20' x 8' room.

Read somewhere that 200 watts is sufficient for most listeners unless you what to blow your brains out. Now based on experience how different will the 1090 sound with its extra wattage given my configuration above?

              How will...

RB 1080 Fuses and Heat (Long post)
              by cfrahme52
I've owned the RB1080 since March 2004. I believe it is what is referred to as version 3-it has the dual "WBT-like" speaker binding posts.
After over a year of use (listening to classical, chamber, rock, jazz at "healthy" volumes) I lost the right channel.
              A friend,...
