Rotel RC 1082 Volume knob light

    Hello

I have a Rotel RC 1082 pre amp and recently the light on the volume knob doesnt work

I wonder if there is a solution for tis or the pre amp needs replacement
I tried to connect an ipod on the front side that says media player and couple times the amp went off. (The sound)
    Any help please?
    Thanks

    1082

Picked up a 1082 couple months ago. Never had a lite knob like was on my 1070. So you tell me that you had one and it malfunctioned. If so, I will be sending mine back.

On Saturday I sent it to my dealer and he is going to ship it to Rotel

My dealer said that the cable and the ipod were ok, but he cant replace it because I have it for one year. They replace them only if you have them for 90 days.

He gave me a Rotel RSP-960AX surround sound processor temporarily until the 1082 is fixed.
I hope Rotel replaces the pre amp at the end because fixing is a band aid sometimes.

I noticed that the Rotel RSP-960AX plays pretty good
Almost similar to the 1082 or its me and I think that

I suggest you to talk to your dealer and call Rotel also

Here's the current replacement/repair from Rotel:

A year from a customer purchase will qualify for an immediate A-stock replacement shipped prepaid.

The above policy is applicable only to current product. Once a model has been discontinued, our standard 90 day replacement policy will go into effect. The issuance of A or B stock will be dependent on product availability. Alternatively, the unit can be repaired on an expedited basis.
So if you have had it over a year, the dealer is correct. If you haven't I would think it still applies. Since the 15 series stereo stuff isn't shipping yet, I would consider the 1082 a 'current' product. But I guess that label is up to Rotel.

Thanks Kevin for your info (as always)

          I bought the RC1082 on June 2008
          I have the receipt
What can I do so I can replace it?

Its too early for this kind of pre amp to have problems

It will have to be shipped to the dealer and your's returned. Like I said what is a 'current product' will be up to Rotel, but I would think you have a good case to argue it.

When I took my RB1090 in they look at my record and said it is covered in warrenty for 4 years, of that Ive used 14 months.

                1090

Got the call today. 1090 is back from Rotel. Got to go pick her up, and move the Ampzilla back to the closet. I hate going to that shop...too many goodies.

                  Called Rotel today
Ahhh....the RC1082 IS discontinued because of the series 15.
BUT... the Rotel specialist assured me that the pre amp is gonna go threw a lot of tests for technical issues. He got my name also and the place that I purchased it.

                  Fairly inaff.

                  Good support

                  I was not just lucky.
I explained also that is too early for repairs and he they are going to take care of that.

I just check the new series 15 by the way

                  Thank you all

It is still shown as an active preamp on their website - not listed as dsicontinued. Most of the 15 series is not available at dealers yet.

Thanks. I now have two 1092s - one for my digital system and one for my analogue system. i could not find a 'decent' 1090 that hadn't been abused. I got my 1092 from my dealer (demo) for $1100. I am still looking for a 1090 to 'have' though.

I picked my 1090 back up from the dealer yesterday. Rotel had to repair a couple of grounding transitors. Still in the box, have not put it back into the rack yet. If I come across any 1090's I'll notify you. Would like to pick up a 1092, that may take some doing. Ordered a Pioneer elite SACD to go with the system, downstairs. Anxious to hear it with the Rotel gear. Later. The audio shop that I mentioned to you about the 1092 has a 1067 someone brought in, intrade. it appears clean but dont know the price.

The RC1082 shows up in Rotel N.A. website Products->HiFi->Stereo PreAmplifiers.
Doesn't that mean it is current?

                              Hey All,

Is there supposed to be a light around the volume knob on the 1560? I see the blue ring around it, and from some of the photos on Rotel's site it looks lit (mine is not).

                              Thanks,
                              Thor

Is there supposed to be light around the knobs of the RSP-1098 ?
                                  Thanks

Pulled the knob off of the 1082. Sure enough, wire is connected to diode in knob. Either the diode is faulty or there is no power going to it.

None of the processor's/receivers have a light on or around the volume knob. There's a colored ring around it that looks lit up in pictures, but it's just the lighting.

The 1082 light in discussion if a physical led on the knob.
