RSP-1069 NEW Firmware!

Hello.

I am trying to upgrade the Rotel RSP-1069 with the latest firmware obtained from Rotel.

I have the official cable from Rotel.
I am using Windows XP.
I have a serial port on the laptop.
I activated firmware upgrade in the rotel menu system.

Whenever I try to connect, I receive the following error
"Error: No reply from CPU"

I tried all the com ports; my serial is com1.

PLEASE HELP ME! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Have you put the RSP-1069 into the upgrade mode?

Just something you can try: can you put 115200bps in the field next to connect? or maybe you need to change the baudrate of your COM port to 115200bps.

The latest scaler firmware is v1.48 and the main is v1.1.8.

Eric do you know when v1.48 come out? My dealer gave me the update a few months back and I never heard of any new updates since.

It might all ready be out. If you notice on his screen shot, he's got main version 1.2.1..

v1.48 came out a couple of months ago. I don't remember the exact date but it wasn't that long ago. I think I received it about three weeks ago. If you want it, PM me.

Kevin, I don't have my laptop at home so I don't have all of the info here but I don't remember having v1.2.1 for the main. I'm not saying it's not available but I don't remember it. I'll look tomorrow and get it if I don't have it it's available.

Gentlemen, I currently have main version 1.1.8 and video is version 1.45, what advantages will I gain with the latest firmware. I currently have my system connected via hdmi to a 1080p display

I have yet to see any release notes for the new firmwares. I know 1.46 scaler came out to help a pink screen issue on non-hdmi inputs. 1.47 came out to fix a pink screen issue on Dish Network HDMI sources added in 1.46.

1.1.6 added support for the HDMI bypass board. No idea of 1.1.8

Thanks Kevin. My video is 1.45. (Main 1.1.8) I have had some handshake issues do you think it's worth upgrading?

Probably so. You can always get older versions if it accidentally breaks something else.

this update allowed the hdmi handshake to occur between my projector, rotel, and htpc.


i fnally got it to work when i set the rate at the highest possible level in the com setting

So you have to have a serial port to upgrade the FW on the 1069? eek

Edit: can you do it with a USB to serial adapter?

You can do it with a USB to serial adapter. It works just fine. It will work with both Vista and XP but it seems to work better with XP (like most things) in my experience.

As far as the current firmware, the main is v1.2.1. Rotel made some small changes to the sub set up, from v1.1.8, but it's nothing critical.

Do to the increased complication of updating (three different files, two programs) Rotel has decided to not publicly provide it. The frustration of some is made up from the lack of frustration of many (from breaking it during an update).

Mike Sheehan with bwgroupsupport was very fast to respond to my email a couple months back. Within 24 hrs. I had the update installed.

As far as I know v1.47 is still the most current video update.

Maybe thats why the link has changed?

I guess I will have to email Rotel as well to get the newer update.

I wouldn't advise posting links sent in personal email and I have removed the one above (invalid anyway).

I too am having difficulty upgrading firmware, on the RSP-1069. I have the NEC flash 2.7 upgrade program, plus the main, video and audio firmware. I am using a USB-Serial cable, with DB9-RJ45 cable.

I've set the COM3 port to 38400, 8 data, 1 stop, No flowcontrol, etc.

All I get from the processor upon trying to "CONNECT" is "Error : unknown reply code from cpu".

You might have to try a different usb-serial cable.

Also, is the db9-RJ45 the one that came with the unit? Off the shelf ones are not compatible. You need the Rotel cable or make your own.
