    Rotel 15XX Series Firmware

    Hi Everyone,

Supposedly there is a new 15xx firmware going out to the retailers. Just wondering if anyone has it so I dont have to bring it to my retailer to get it updated.

    Thanks Terry

Isn't it also supposed to be downloadable from Rotel and user-installable at home?

The 1069/1058 wasn't do to it's complicated procedure. I would imagine the 15 series is no different.

I received an e-mail last night, from my dealer, to let me know that there was, indeed, a new firmware coming out. One of the things it will deal with is the 96k issue.
I'll keep in touch with him and head over when it's ready.
        Hopefully this week.

it's great news that a new firmware is coming...

@Kevin D, I understand there may be an additional complexity to do our own upgrade, but this is a real pain of disconnecting all cables, and bringing the receiver to the dealer. Plus the fact that this beast is very heavy.

I just hope then, that my dealer will give me the procedure and necessary files to do it by myself.

            Pitou,
You could try asking your dealer if they would forward the update to your email so you could do this at home. I did my own update on my RSP-1069. It could cause problems if done wrong though and probably void the warranty.

              Huh.

My RSP-1570 came with a cable that is specifically designed, or so said my dealer, for installing firmware updates.

I assume Rotel would put that in the box so people can do it at home.

It's main use is for controlling the unit in home automation systems. Or for having it all ready hooked up when your dealer comes out with a laptop (which I hope they would be willing to do).

I have the same version too.

This HDMI stuff is really annoying! I changed my sat RX yesterday, and the new one refuses to show video (without a power cycle) if I select another source on the 1570 and then go back to it (audio is sometimes OK). The old RX worked after switching, as does my BD player and AppleTV. What gives?

Your dealer will be able to update the software, or you are welcome to contact Rotel directly to see if they will send it to you. It's their choice to release it to end users if they feel they are capable.
