    New amp added to RSX-1056

Hi have purchased an amplifier to drive my two main fronts for stereo. I was always told that ant amplifier needs to see a load or damge could occur. If I connect the pre-outs FR and FL of the RSX to the new amp and connect the speakers to the new amp the FR and FL speakers outs will have no speakers conected to them. Is there anything I need to do in the programming or is this the way everyone here does it. The center and surrounds will still be connected for HT duties.

    Thanks

    Gianluca

There is nothing you need to do and you will be fine not having them hooked up. I've never heard of an amplifier in a receiver being damaged from not being hooked up. It happens quite a bit these days since quite a few receivers have 7 channels and most people have 5.1 systems.

Lets not forget, Eric, that more and more 7.1 receivers have a "bi-amp" or redirect function to use those "extra" channels. Rotel not withstanding.

The Rotel receviers that have 7 channels have that feature as well. Not all of the receivers available have the bi-amp feature. It is becoming more common, but not all do.

I always thought that the rsx1056 should not be used with 4ohm speakers.Atleast that's what rotel told me a while back when i was inquiring about dynaudio speakers,so i ended up with B&W 603s3's/lcr600(really liked them anyway).Well i have upgraded my speakers to a System Audio setup(sa1750/sa720av/sa505's)these...

Is the better choice the RSP1068 or RSX1056 for pre-amp duty?

I will add the RMB1066 (in bi-amp mode) or the RMB1075.

            by rick c
I have an rb1050 just laying around right now and was contemplating adding it to my rsx1056.The rsx1056 is rated at 100x2,the rb1050 70x2.Would it even be worth the trouble adding the 1050 to the rsx1056 for the fronts.Would i notice anything being the amp is rated lower.I just hate to get to the rear...
