    IR Relays

Some of my components are blocked in the cabinet, but the 1057 remote sensor is in view. Can I connect the blocked components using the IR 1/2 slots on the 1057 to the IR in slot on the devices, and have the 1057 sensor on the front relay the signal through to the blocked device?

Can the 12v cable doing IR duty be split?

Do "passive" external sensors work well enough?

Will the 1057 pass the IR signal through in standby mode?

Any recommendations on external sensors? The smaller more hideable the better.

    Thanks.

The IR outputs on the back do not pass anything on that is received from the front panel IR sensor. They only relay what comes in the EXT IR input that is on the back of the RSX-1057 (all of Rotel's products that have these connectors work the same). You would need a separate IR sensor like this Xantech one if you want something small.

If the sensor will be close to a plasma TV or an LCD TV you need ones that are designed for those installations like these.

Along with them you need a connecting block and power supply or you can get kits that have everything together.

You can split the IR cables with a "Y" adapter, but sometimes things don't work as well when you do. That is a trial and error situation.

I'm not sure what you mean by passive IR sensors. They all need to be powered up and the Rotel pieces don't have power in them to power them up (hence the power supply and connecting block I mentioned above).

    I hope this helps.

          Re-soldering amp relays
          by littlesaint
Anyone ever re-solder the relays on an old SS amp? I have a NAD 2200PE that's been solid until recently, and I've tracked the problem down to bad solder joints on the relays. They're surface mounted and it looks a little complicated to get at the bottom of the board.

          Hi guy's

Just got the RSX 1057 on Saturday. Had a chance to play around with it all day today. Well first off, the 1057 replaced my 3 year old RSP 1066 as a Pre/pro. I have the RSX 1057 hooked up to my RMB 1075. I just have the front 2 channels running out of the 1075 and have the center...

We have bought the munchkins a PS3 for the holidays. Naturally I want it to run movies and game sound through my speaker set up. I have a 1057 that I am using as a pre-pro, I also have an OPPO that I use for standard DVD's. I know this is going to sound dumb (with a capital D), but can I get 7.1...
