How to tell if the RSP1069 has the scaler bypass mod?

    Hi all,

I'm getting ready to upgrade from my, now ancient, RSP976 to the RSP1069. I have a dealer willing to do a really good price on the 1069, but I'd like to know if there's an easy way to tell whether the unit has had the video scaler bypass modification done or not.

From the phone conversations my dealer has had with the distributors, it sounds like the distributors don't know that much about this modification. I have directed the dealer to this thread...

but I said I would also ask here as there is a lot of knowledge on this forum.

    Any help is appreciated!

If its new and/or the firmware has not been updated by anyone, you could go into the setup menu and see if the're an option for HDMI bypass under VIDEO settings.

If the firmware has been updated, there's no real way to tell without calling Rotel with the serial number to see.

      Hi all,

A few months ago I purchased a Rotel RSP1069 pre/pro to replace my aging Rotel RSP976. The main feature I wanted was the ability to process multi-channel PCM audio via HDMI. It took several months to get it integrated into my system, get the control side of things sorted out...

Rotel RC-1580 HT Bypass (Tape 2)
      by srb
The Rotel RC-1580 is the first Rotel preamp to offer an HT Bypass input. However it seems a little strange that the Tape 2 input is actually the bypass input.

My first thought was that this might have been an afterthought, enabled with an internal circuit modification, and the original...

      1069 480i HDMI bypass issue
      by TommyV
I brought this up in another thread but it is becoming more annoying to me. Why is it the 1069 does not bypass 480i? I do not want to be forced to use a deinterlacer/scaler in my source components. If I send 480i to the 1069, the resulting image looks horrible. Could this possibly be fixed by Rotel...

      • The first tweeter modified was one sent to Mark K for measurement, PRIOR to modifying the tweeter- this is an interseting point, considering what he measured and what I measured in the impedance curve,
