RSP-1069 HDMI issue (not yet covered by other posts)

Hello, as far as I can read I have not seen the following issues I am experiencing with HDMI:

    1. I have tried a 10' cable and a 5' cable and the projector does not recognize the signal. (no problem with component video)
-both cables display video from my HTPC (ATI Radeon 2400) on my projector, and from my DVD player (Oppo 981) to my projector.

    2. When I connect a cable to the HDMI MON output the unit will stop playing audio from the HDMI input sources. (analog sources are still working)
    - the only way to fix, is to unplug the HDMI cable and then turn the processor off/on again.

    3. When the unit is powered on, it takes 15 seconds to output sound from a HDMI input.

Reseting the unit to factory default, disconnecting all inputs and restarting the unit does not solve the problem.

    Any ideas?
This unit has the HDMI bypass board installed, no change with it On/Off.

Sounds like the 1069 cannot negotiate a connection with your projector. Hold down mute and tell me what software and scaler firmware you are running. I would also call Rotel and let them know the brand and model so they can check for known issues or start one.

Since HDMI has to be negotiated, 15 seconds after turn on for sound to come through is not unusual. In addition, with no monitor connected the 1069 is the end point and the negotiation goes fine. When you connect the projector and it can't establish a connection, this will break the 1069 to device connection as well. This is because the unknown device 'your projector' is now the end point. If it can't establish a start to finish connection, no portion will work.

      v1.1.6-071122
      video - v1.44

Taking the unit to another home, I connected it with a 6' HDMI cable - and it displayed the menu fine.

The two original cables (35' and 15') are HDMI - DVI (projector only has DVI input).

Using the 6' cable with a HDMI-DVI adapter does not work.

The conversion to DVI is most likely causing the issue. There is a newer version of the scaler software, but most were specific fixes. Best bet is to contact Rotel and see if they recommend upgrading.

Look at the end of this thread. It is a HDMI issue and you probably need to spend $100 for a Gefen's DVI Detective. I have not been able to establish a sync from my Mac directly through the 1069 and that is why I didn't buy one. I just use an oppo switch ($100). HDMI/DVI from your PC would not carry audio anyway

My video card sends video and audio through the HDMI output.

I have my DVD and HTPC sending Audio/Video to the RSP1069 via HDMI. I then send the video on to my projector using the component outs.

Looks like the DVI issue is normal for this unit and not a specific flaw to mine.

The Death of HDMI - HDBaseT™ technology?
              by beden1
I read about this first in an issue of Home Theater Magazine (I think?), and I had wanted to post about it at the time, but unfortunately, I just never got around to it. I misplaced the magazine article and just did an Internet search to get information relating to HDVaseT technology. A link to an announcement:...

I have recently been living with my Oppo 980 hooked up to my Classe SSP 600 via analog output while I wait to receive the Oppo BDP 83. Prior I had the Oppo hooked up to my 1069 via HDMI and let the 1069 do all the work. As a result I have been able to really compare the difference between the the 1069...
