    Rotel 1069 vs Oppo 980H

I have recently been living with my Oppo 980 hooked up to my Classe SSP 600 via analog output while I wait to receive the Oppo BDP 83. Prior I had the Oppo hooked up to my 1069 via HDMI and let the 1069 do all the work. As a result I have been able to really compare the difference between the the 1069 and 980 on how they handle DVD A and SACD.

I may be stating the obvious here, but if it gives any of you 1069 owners a piece of mind I will say that the difference is nothing short of staggering. I was listening to Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb sun (an album I have head at least 50 times) and I notice some sounds were simply not there. IN some respects it sounded like an MP3. I know that is a harsh statement, and since I have not heard an MP3 in years I may be way off, but the reality is the difference in my mind is that big.

I sincerely hope the BDP 83 is MUCH better then the 980 ( I suspect it is), or else I will play my DVD As as Dolby Digital with my SSP 600 until i upgrade to an 800. The bottom line is Rotel is a very good quality brand and I was reminded of the quality I took for granted having living with Rotel. Is the quality of the 980 via analog really what most people live with when it come to entry level stuff or if the 980 that bad?
