    Rotel RC 1082 PC Connection

    Hello

I am trying to find out how to connect the ethernet cable from the (Back panel) Pre Amp RC 1082 to my computer (I mac), so I get audio files to hear music.

Is there any configuration, or some other tip?

    Thanks in advance

That's not an ethernet connection. It's an RS232 serial connection used to control the pre-amp from an automation system.

Given a custom program, you could control the 1082 from you Imac, but you will not be able to stream audio to it. It's essentially just a DB9 serial port in an RJ45 connector.

You can put a DAC between the IMac and your pre. The IMac should have an optical-out that you can connect to the optical-in of a DAC (or processor or receiver).

The drawback is that you cannot use the IMac's internal speakers if you send the sound to the optical-outs.

To get music from your iMac into the pre-amp, you can use analog audio out from the mac to either the front panel "media input", or a rear panel phono input. (iMac 3.5mm stereo -> RB-1082 3.5mm stereo or phono jacks).

          - OR -

For better quality, use the Macs optical output and an external DAC. The analog output from the DAC can be fed to the 1082 as above.
(iMac 3.5mm minijack TOSLINK -> DAC TOSLINK)

            RSX 1067 computer connection
            by kiwi_frog
On the back of the RSX 1067 there is an ethernet port - with a dongle that converts it to a serial port. My question is - Can I control the receiver via the serial port, and if so, where is the software avaliable. I know that its designed to do software upgrades, but on my old Marantz SR7400 I could...

Purpose of: CP 800 ethernet connection
            by gerardhn
            All,

Can we ask Classe to write something what their intention is for the ethernet connection??
The USB/Apple front connection gets all attention.
But the ethernet? This is even more interesting.

            Hi
could somebody give me his opinion.

I am wondering if the files would be treated the same by the classé with these input sources. And what about the flow of the data stream ?

Anyway which will result in better sound :

            by PiDD
Is any one using the serial connection to control their 1098? I did see a nice VB app but I was hoping someone was using Girder. I cant get the receiver to respond to the serial commands using Girder. I hoping there was some help out there.

Second, are the serial codes posted anywhere....

            Infrared over ethernet hardware?
            by thoffland
            Hey everyone,

I just bought a house that's still being built. The wiring company called and arranged my preferences and upgrades and part of the option included my plasma to be mounted on the wall over a "slave box". In the "slave box" is an ethernet jack that the...
