Rotel 1065 and R969 remote problems, very disappointed with Rotel's product now.

I've just received my 1065 back from Rotel for a major upgrade.

When I change channels with the satellite dish, it automatically switches the audio mode to fm stereo and I have to use the remote again to reset it to the satellite receiver. This happens every time a change a channel
Any tips out there for me?

    thanx in advance...

I got that problem fixed with the inernal settings, but when I change DVD tracks, the audio formats change and I have to manually go in and reset it back to two channel or what ever format I was using. I've even used the DVD's remote to change channels to make sure it isn't the 969 causing the problem.

Another problem I have is when I change channels on my Satellite, I loose all audio and have to push a series of three buttons on the 969 to get my audio back. I bought two more rebuilt remotes and one won't work right at all and the other one doesn't help with the problems I'm experiencing.

I've reset all of the internal input settings several times and get the same results. Maybe it's time to switch to Denon or Onkyo. Shipping costs back to the factory are expensive, and may not be worth the investment to keep shipping it back anymore. The local Rotel rep couldn't fix the Eprom chip problem a couple of years ago and Rotel sent me a board with the new chip and I installed the board, and it still wouldn't work and accept the upgraded software, so I had to put in the old chip again and settle with the older audio formats. I'm kinda unhappy with their products now....

I have an audition with a large group of audiophiles coming from Alabama, Louisiana, and the Houston area this month to demo my system and this isn't going to make a good showing for the Rotel product line.

The cost of resending it back to the factory again, well over a hundred bucks, makes me seriously consider another product line.

I would contact Rotel and tell them they didn't fix the unit correctly and THEY should have to pay for the shipping of the unit since THEY sent it back to you not working correctly.

Rotel seems to be pretty good with fixing their units (normally). Call and see what they will do, it does sound like an odd problem.

Almost sounds like the unit isn't picking up the loss of data (assuming your using an optical connection) correctly so when it gets a signal of DD or whatever format, it isn't setting the correct relays.
      Digital Audio makes me Happy.

I have worked with Mike Sheehan at Rotel/ B & W several times as I've had problems with this unit a year or so after I got it. I've changed out boards myself that they sent me because the local authorized dealer couldn't fix it. The Eprom chip never would work and take the newer software. I sent it back and they put $870 in parts and labor into it and sent it back and are willing to pay for shipping it back again for yet another repair.

I have a scheduled audition of my system with folks coming from Alabama, Louisiana, and the Houston metro area who are members of the SoundSplinter subwoofer driver forum and don't have time to send it back in for another 3 week down time, so I'll just have to apologize to the group about all of the remote control work I'll have to do to play each track, DVD, or movie.

I'm mad at the Home Theater Store for lying to me about the sale of the unit. They violated the DTPA by telling me they were replacing mine in their demo room with another one just like mine, but with only with the silver face cover. It turned out to be a 1067, the one I needed for my new home which I prewired.

I've filed complaints to the head office in Houston about all of these problems I've had and I don't know if I'm going to send it back now. I may fork out the dollars and get a new Denon or Onkyo 905 in the same class and price range.

This unit has been a lemon.

You are right.....I'm down to coaxial audio and it appears to be working ok for the time being. Mike Sheehan has taken good care of me, so I have no complaints with the Rotel's service. I'm going to try to live with the lesser quality audio because I'm tired of dealing with it and my system sounds so good, it is hard to tell the difference. It's time to start putting some bucks away for a new unit.

          Thanks,
          Mike

            All,

I am seriously considering the purchase of a Rotel 1065 receiver, and have been reviewing the posts on this forum. I note that there is a lot of info on the 1066+Amp, and 1055, but relatively little on the 1065. I will be using it with B&W N804, N805, and HTM2.

Looking for a Rotel 1065 tech for a sub pre-out question
            by mfishmike
I've got the Rotel 1065 receiver/amp and it comes with two sub pre-outs. The manual tells me they are RCA 1.2v (or close), out to the subwoofer amplifier.

The picture in my "avatar" to the left is my latest DIY subwoofer project. It has two active drivers and 4 passive radiators,...

            by xspale
            Hi Everyone,

I am new to Rotel and this forum. Before few weeks I purchased Rotel 1065 A/V Receiver from 2002.
If I am close to speakers I can hear silent buzzing sound from left speaker. I have tried to disconnect everything and switch to fm tuner but buzzing is still there....

Hey guys, I am looking at getting either the Marantz 9200/9300 or the Rotel 1065. Both systems will cost me the same, because if I go the Rotel route I will need another amp, and I will buy a nicer remote. I have a M&K 750THX select speaker system. Which set up would be better? Is one better for...
