    Amplification for B&W 804S, HTM3

    Dear all,

I consider adding a HTM3 and 805S to my current 804S. Usually I am a Naim addicted but I will not buy an AV2, NAP 175 Amplification (at least not now) but I considered Rotel for the time being appropriate. Would an Rotel RSX 1057 be acceptable for the time being. My main interest is a very good and precise reproduction of voices as we often watch and listen to films at a quite low volume and my interest is excellent reproduction at that volume. Would the RSX 1057 be an appropriate instrument? Source is and will remain a Denon DVD 3910 which will only be replaced when high level Blue Ray Players are available (in Germany).

Main Speakers will be amplified by a Naim Supernait.

    Thanks for Your kind support.

I was using my RSX-1057 with my 803S/HTM3S/SMCS which are more or less the same speakers as yours and found the receiver to be adequate. I did not play the system near reference volume and only just above average and it did fine.

You will definately need to get external amplification later on and the RSX-1057 should only be an interim solution.

Yesterdays I tested the Rotel 1069 and 1075
I was not amazed, the sound was quite compressed

May be the 1057 is quite good temporary resolution

What speakers did you test them with?

Were you in your normal listening room at home or in a shop?

Would the HTM4 center pice match the R/L 804S??
            by jjahshik32
I've been reading around on these forums and found one thread where someone upgraded from 804S to 803S and he owned the HTM3 which matched much better with the 803S.

I guess if the HTM3 matches the 803S would the HTM4 match the 804S better?

I just got my B&W 804S speakers yesterday. Funny how I came around to selecting them. Here's my story....

I've had B&W 602.5 / B&W LCR60 / B&W 600 for my system for about a year and a half and wanted to upgrade (don't we all). I researched the internet, read posts here,...

            Amp for new 804S
            by wb2fcr
In a previous thread I posted regarding my recent purchase of pair of B&W 804S speakers to replace my B&W 602.5s. I'm also using B&W 600 for surrounds and B&W HTM7 for center (which needs to be upgraded to HTM3).

I'm very happy with the 804s but quickly realized the Denon...

Upgraded from 804s to 803s, best move ever!
            by CJM
I recently bought a pair of 804s to go with my htm3 center. I have a relatively small room (12 x 20), and was worried the 803s would provide too much base - especially since these speakers had to go right up against the wall. What I quickly discovered was that with such a clear spectrum of midrange...
