    Replace RCD 955 ax

    Hello,

My setup consists of a pair of B&W 705 powered by the Rotel 980BX pre and end amplifiers with the Rotel RCD 955 ax as main input.
I feel my 705's can/should sound better by improving my setup and I want to start by replacing the RCD 955.

I've been looking for the RCD 990, but have no luck so far in finding one. Alternatively there are some RCD 1070 and RDV 995 and 1080 available secondhand.

1st question; Am I right in assuming the 955 needs to be replaced first and the amps will do fine until my next urge to update (or would a second end amp be a better idea)?

2nd question; Should I wait until I can find a RCD 990 or would the 1070 make me very happy as well?

3rd question; Is the RDV 1080 or 995 a serious replacement as an audio player (same league as 1070)? I wouldn't mind having a high quality DVD player as a bonus!

Thanks a lot in advance for your help/suggestions!

I've also seen a secondhand Musical Fidelity E60 at a dealer. How would this stack up against the named Rotel players?

    Thanks in advance.

      HDCD decoding for Rotel RCD-1070
      by pbarata
As far as I know HDCD is an improved 20 bit encoding method for Audio CD’s. However in Rotel RCD-1070 only a maximum of 18 bits is available internally for conversion. Does it mean that the decoder for HDCD used by Rotel is reducing the strength of bit data to 18 bits? Is RSP-1066 using the same decoder...

      RCD-1070 vs RCD-1072?
      by scottv50
What is the difference between these two CD players? If you go to the Rotel website and tell them you are in the US you see the RCD-1072 ande if you tell the website you are not in the US you see the RCD-1070.

      What gives?

Are these actually the same unit with different...

      Hi,

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here compared the Rotel RCD-991 CD player to the Rotel RCD-1070?

      Kind Regards.

      RCC-1055 or RCD-1070??
      by phuz
I picked up an RCD-1070 earlier this week and I have to say I love it. But I can't help but wonder why not for the same price, go ahead and get the RCC-1055 5 disk changer? They both appear to have the same DACs, simmilar power supplies, and good Rotel build quality. The 1055 actually has an IR repeater...

      Rotel RCC-1055 vs. RCD-1070
      by Azeke
Has anyone heard both of these CD players. I have a chance to swap my RCD-1070 (black) for the RCC-1055 (silver to match the RSP-1066 & RMB-1095 both silver, multi-cd player). I've read the specs on each, the 1070 has greater separation and a slightly better freq. response (2Hz lower). The swap...
