    RSX1055 noise

Hi, please help. I have a RSX1055, and it has some static noise "bup .. bup ..." on one of the surround channel. It currently has firmware version 2.2.0-020819. Do you know what are the possible cause of it? Is there any newer firmware I should try? I tried the firmware links but it no longer works, can anyone please post an updated firmware link?

    Thank you very very much.

Yes, there was a lot of improvements that could fix the popping. Here's the link to Rotel's website that has the latest 2.3.0:

    http://www.rotel.com/NA/Support/Tech...date.htm?Id=98

Now if it just started to pop on its own, without changing anything around, it probably needs to go in to get the DSP board fixed. But it's worth trying the new firmware.

      Thanks Kevin.

I upgrade the firmware to 2.3, and the pop still happens. I basically try everything, and concluded that it is not something related to setting or configuration that I can fix.

I did a search in this forum by 1055 and read every single thread. It seems there are quite a number of people complained about it. Some ppl suggest it is because of bad cable, some suggest is bad grounding, some suggest it is the order of turning on the systems ... but so far, I couldn't see any concrete solution. And it seems the only solution is to ask for a new one.

If anyone has similar popping noise and know the root cause, please let me know.

But for my case, very interesting, it seems the situation is improved if I turn on my Rotel RDV 1080 DVD player first, then turn on the receiver after say 10 seconds. I can still here some popping and static noise, but it seems it is less obvious. Do you think it is grounding issue? If yes, how should I ground it?

And I once saw a CD saying that if I play it, it can remove the static being build up in the system ... Is it real? I found it hard to believe.

        Loud popping noise in RSX-1055
        by taimur
I've had my RSX1055 receiver for about 10 months, and it's been fine until now. In the last week or so, through the front left speaker, I can hear a very loud popping noise every so often. It sounds like a record being scratched for about 1/4 of a second and then **pop** (real loud!). Sometimes it's...

        Hi!

I have a RSX-1055 connected to a RB-985 for the front and center channels. When I turn it on with the remote, I get a popping sound from the surround and center back speakers, which are connected to the internal power amps, but not from the front/center which are connected to the...

Out of thre blue I've got static and scratching sounds from the RR channel.

Best part is that you don't even need to be in a mutli-channel mode. That's right - it even spits static when 2-channel bypass is selected.

In multi-channel the RR output is reduced and the noise...

Does firmware 2.26 really fix popping

        Hello,

I have an RSX-1055 with the speaker popping bug when changing sources and surround modes. I installed firmware 2.26, which is supposed to fix this popping bug. However, it did not. In fact, it had no effect on the popping in my system whatsoever. The full version of the firmware...
