My sound gets worse and dolby digital is displayed. I have it set up as 5 channel. I know it detects the digital signal but I can not get the setting to stay at 5.1. I have a RKB 650 AMP. It was working well yeasterday and know the quality is bad. Only two speakers are appear to be working and the other channels are not getting a signal. Could this be related to the firmware. I have not updated to the recent versions.

So it's been working fine until today or did you just go to a 5ch setup and find it's not working? What source DVD or cable/sat?
If it's been working fine and suddenly quit working it's not firmware related. Could be the source or the 1068. We need more info.

I just set it up on Friday night and it was working great yesterday. I have an optical input from my Satillite. I have the input set as 5.1 but the display on the screen is Dolpy Digital 48K or Pro logic II. I have B&W MT1 speakers (5 of them) and a B&W subwoofer (ASW 608). I have owned the processor for two years and used it for stereo more than home theater use. I just can't seem to get is set on 5.1 or the dolby digital is messed up based on how I have it programmed. I do not know. i think I have tried every combination.- Bottom

Might want to check that your satellite's digital output is set to output DD/PCM all the time.
What version firmware are you running? (Hold down mute for 3-5 seconds). There was one version that caused a problem on a DD 2.0 signal.
Only certain channels on the satellite will be in Dolby Digital, but I'm sure you know that. What DSS receiver are you using?

Can you define "switch to 5.1" for me? For the most part Dolby Digital is 5.1. If you are wanting to put the unit in 5ch stereo mode, then no you cannot apply this to a Dolby Digital signal.
If you like 5ch stereo that's not a problem, but most people prefer Dolby Digital or Dolby Pro Logic II for TV/movie watching. If you don't think it sound good in those modes, then I would suggest getting an SPL meter and making sure all you speaker levels are set correctly and then taking a tape measure and make sure all your speaker distances are correct. Then try those modes again and see what you think.
Keep in mind that the 'correct' sound from the Dolby modes is not going to have the surrounds (or even fronts) loud all the time on every channel. If that is what you are looking for, then by all means leave Dolby off and turn 5ch stereo on. I just wouldn't go around telling everyone here that as some find 5ch stereo only good for parties..

I downloaded the software and everything went fine. It appears everything works. Thanks very much. Your comments helped me a ton. I have one other question. I have a 1068 processor and a RKB 650 amp running the home theater. I would like to run speakers in three more room using the present set up in conjunction with a 1070 stereo amp. I was going to run from the zone out in the processor to the 1070. then from this amp to a Roussound speaker splitter. It this the best way. Thanks- Bottom

That's the best way to use one amp on three rooms and have it different then the main room. Keep in mind the zone outputs will only send sound connected to the ANALOG input (red/white plugs). So any sources you just have just a digital connection will need two additional cables.

by Gordon MooreOkay so the wife constantly tells you to put on the "cans" so as not to wake her or the kids. I like my headphones but I got a taste of the Dolby Headphone track on Perl Harbour and began my quest for a receiver that incorporated this algorithm. Well I settled on a Panny Digital Amp...but...-

by 94CobraHello - new member here. I just plugged in my new SVS PB12 NSD/2 sub using the low level input from my RSP-1068 and the sub will not play. The only way it will play is if I turn the gain knob on the sub to full max, and add +10db to the sub on the test tone menu, and add another +10db in the seperate...-

by mitkaHi,
RSX-1067 developed horrendous electrostatic pops (thru speakers) that disappear in bypass mode.
From that I concluded that the issue is with digital board, part number PCB 016 E-1399C00.
Rotel sells these for $575 which I don't want to spend given the age of the unit....-

by bniemanI am about to contact Rotel but I thought I would check here first.
The rear right channel on my Dad's RSP-1068 is not working when listening to anything that is being digitally processed. This includes Dolby Digital 5.1, 5 Channel Stereo, or Dolby Pro Logic II. Even the test tone does...-
