RSP-1068 Rear Right Channel Not Working When Digitally Processed

I am about to contact Rotel but I thought I would check here first.

The rear right channel on my Dad's RSP-1068 is not working when listening to anything that is being digitally processed. This includes Dolby Digital 5.1, 5 Channel Stereo, or Dolby Pro Logic II. Even the test tone does not work.

Oddly enough it works perfectly if I use analog bypass (7.1 multi-channel inputs). I used DVD-Audio discs to test it. Note that you cannot produce test tones when the amp is set to the multi-channel analog inputs.

Only the rear right channel does not work. I have tried swapping speakers, cables, and amp inputs with no avail.

I have not tried the back left and back right channels since I am not set up for 7.1

I am guessing something is wrong with the digital processor.

Any suggestions? Perhaps try reloading the firmware?

I want to say either right around $400 or $600. Might be less now that it's not a current model. It must just be barely out of warranty. Might not hurt to call them and ask nicely.

Ouch! $600 is around what they are going for used now that the 15 series is out. I wish that $600 got me HDMI...

Thanks for the information, I'll let you know how it all pans out. I sent Rotel an email.

          Cheers

I am still waiting to hear back from Rotel email tech support. I am hoping they are just backed up from the Holiday weekend... I emailed last Thursday July 2

$300 is better than $600, but I am still very disappointed such a nice, expensive, piece of gear needs a new digital board at all. What in the world causes these to go bad?

If you used the email on Rotel's site, their server might still be having issues..
                Try this one:

                techsupport@bwgroupusa.com

Since it's so close to warranty, I would ask them the same question nicely and see what happens.

Parasound C2 missing rear channel with analog 5.1 input
                    by avpower
                    Hi folks,

Has anyone heard of a problem with Parasound Halo C2's not producing sound from the right surround channel? This only happens when I try and listen to SACD's via the 6 channel analog inputs. All digital inputs work fine. There is some low level sound from the right surround...

Rear Channel firing down from ceiling
                    by ktaillon
I'm in the middle of building a home theater in the basement, and I could mount the rear channel speakers into the ceiling firing down.

Has anyone tried this - how did the sound effect of diffusion work?

Question about AUX outputs for a Rear Sub.
                    by slayer
My question is about programming for a rear sub. I have my front/main sub hooked up to the LFE/sub preout. No problems here. I have another sub in the back of my room and it is hooked up to the AUX 2 output to mimic the main sub. No problems here.
I want to try my rear sub as a dedicated rear...

I am looking to buy either four B&W 705's or 805's for sides and rears, using mostly the lossless HD-DVD's, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, etc.. I currently have 804's up front and HTM2 center. My current rears and sides are ceiling mounted (these are being replaced) and I'm using Sunfire amps to drive...
