Any reasons why I should wait for RSP-1069, if I do not need the HDMI switching (in probably the next 2 years)? I have a window of chance to get pretty good deal on the 1098. This is to drive RMB-1075 + Martin Logan Vistas for fronts (center and surrounds TBD), 50% TV/movies, 45% music, 5% games. Thanks!
RSP-1098 now or wait for RSP-1069?

I guess it's nice for someone who doesn't have more then 1 HDMI input on there display.
This is a very good point. You would pretty much gain zero by waiting for the new 1098...-Joe- Bottom

Because it was a no cost (to the customer) running change since a replacement for the 1098 isn't coming soon.Originally posted by DmantisSo you can switch HDMI with the newer version of the 1098 but you can't pull audio from it??? Why bother?

It's keep the 1098 slightly more current until then.

guys, just to clarify since I've been absent for a while: so I can bring my 1098 to the Rotel dealer and they will replace the s-video board with the HDMI board for free? and I'll lose all the S-video inputs?
I just moved to Hong Kong and unfortunately need one s-video input for the cable box at the moment. But could upgrade to the High Definition box with HDMI, but they got only 2 HD channels so far.- Bottom

No, new 1098's shipped since October have HDMI instead of svideo ports yet the retail price remains the same.
They may offer an upgrade for existing units sometime after the new year when supply of the boards increase enough to cover new units and upgrades. The upgrade will not be free, and will require some slight modifications to the chasis as well as the card.

If you do not need HDMI for the next 2 years, I think that you should get the 1098 at a good price now. If you need HDMI video switching then, you could add a RVE-1060 or RVE-1070, or upgrade the S-Video board with the HDMI Borad...
Does anyone knows how much the HDMI upgrade board will cost ? Is it over 500$ ?

by DrBoomWell, it's been almost 2 months now that I've lived with both my Rotel RSP1098 and my Parasound C2 and the time for deciding which I'm going to keep is almost at hand.(not that I HAVE to decide now for some reason, but I'd hate to end up with 2 processors permanently)
I actually own both of them,...-

by Chris DI was surfing the Rotel website today and noticed that they've added a link for the RSP-1098 now on the home theater processor page. Not much new info, bit there is a bit. A link to the .pdf file on the 1098 if you haven't seen it before too.

by >>Angel<<Hi,
I recently bought the RSP1098 (next to the RMB1075) in combination with the RDV1060, what a nice combination this is
. However I do have some issues/questions:
- How can I enable color on the TFT display when DVD video is passed (via composite video) to the 1098?...-
