Speaker Cable Lug Size for Rotel RSX 1056??

So, I finally (after 3 years) was able to procure my first piece of Rotel. I bought a used RSX-1056. I run HDMI straight to my tv so having it on the receiver is of no use to me. So, I figured while I could catch a deal on a 1056, why not? I've had it for a week and am loving it. It replaced a Denon 3805.

I do have a question though. I'm looking to add speaker cable with spade lugs, but cannot find the appropriate size that will fit the posts on the Rotel. I ask b/c I've seen various makers offer 5/16", 1/4", and 3/16" spades. I've searched the Rotel manual and could not find mention of the appropriate size. Can anyone tell me the appropriate size? Thanks.

Most recievers are not spade lug friendly.

I believe there are speaker cables with banana plug version. They may just require a special order. There are also spade to banana plug adapters.

Heh... Someone moved the thread for him, but didn't delete the reply saying he should move it.

            Cory,

Welcome to the club. I'm a banana plug guy myself, and don't have access to a receiver to measure for you. Hopefully someone will come in with some info. You can always call Rotel direct and see.

The smallest size you can use is 1/4". Spade lugs on speaker wire give you more surface contact than pins and are, in my experience, more reliable than banana plugs. They are also very easy to use on Rotel receivers.

Thanks for all of the input guys. Yeah, I read that the Rotel receivers will accept them as they are mentioned in the manual. My Denon and Marantz receiver prior to this both had those plastic surrounds that made it impossible to get lugs on, but would accept wire/pins/bananas.

                Thanks again.

                  Hi all:

I will purchase a pair of B&W CM4 speakers and a CM series central channel. I live in an apartment right now so don't have the space to setup 5.1 but I will move into a house in next two year. I am also going to a Rotel receiver or pre/pro/amp combo. My candidate choices are:...

I wanted to thank all of the members of this forum for providing the wealth of knowledge that helped me in my purchasing decision. After considering pretty much else out there (NAD, Arcam, etc.), I bought a RSX-1056 as well as the RDV-1040 earlier today. I am just astounded at the difference in what...

I'm looking at the Yamaha rxv2400 vs the Rotel rsx1056. I want a system that matches and has SACD or a universal player. What can Rotel Offer? Am I really losing that much sound quality between these two receivers? Is Rotel going to make a SACD or universal player anytime soon. I'm still not totally...

                  hi all,

i've spent all the money i can this year on hubby, but here is my hypothetical question.
