    RSX-1057 questions

i just got my hands on an used RSX-1057. It's in great condition however it's missing a remote. As I'm trying to learn how to set up and to use the receiver, it seems to me that without the remote, it's not possible to manipulate most setting/adjustment. Is this true or am I missing something? Secondly, do I need to purchase Rotel remote to access all available features or can I get a third party universal, programmerable remote to do the same? If so, any suggestion on brand and model.

One minor cosmetic imperfection is that there is a 'scuffle'--not quite a scratch--in the display. Does anyone know if there is a fix or can I replace the what appears to be an acrylic plate?

I think I'll have tons of more questions as I learn more each day. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Yes, you will need the remote to set it up. If you're looking to get a good remote for your whole system, any of the Harmony's or Pronto's work well. Range from $100 on up.

I would doubt that your typical universal would have more then power/mute. A Rotel remote from any of the 10 series products will have the same codes.

As far as the scratch, might want to check if the previous owner actually removed the protective tape over the screen. It's hard to notice. If not, try some of the plastic polishes made for automotive gauges.

    Welcome to the club.

      RSX-1057 questions

      thank you Kevin!

That's good to hear since I've agreed to take over Harmony 550 from the previous owner of RSX 1057 so I should be fine then. I will play with it some more once I get the remote.

As for the scratch, I think you might be right about the protective tape/film because the surface does feel rather soft. When I scratch the screen with my finger nails--to remove a dirt--it feels as though I may damage it if I put enough pressure. But it I have not been able to feel or grab anything yet to peel it off.

You can start scraping with your nail on a corner. Should easily pull up if it's there.

Remote (RR-1060) no longer working with receiver (RSX-1057)
          by smm735
I recently got a hand-me-down RSX-1057 from my father along with an RR-1060 remote but I am unable to control the RSX-1057 with the RR-1060. Both units were unused (and unpowered) for a couple of years before I started playing with them yesterday.

          Remote codes...
          by unclemick
So I got my RSX1057 and started setting up the remote. I can't seem to locate a remote code that will control my DirecTV sat. box. I've looked in the codes that it came with...they have one listed for Hughes which doesn't work. Then I tried to make the remote learn, no dice. It says "OK"...

          RMB1077 and RSX1057 system
          by bullitt731
I was planning on using an RSX1057 as a processor with an RMB1077 hooked up to a pair of B&W 804s and a HTM3s. Orignally I thought I would biamp and biwire the L and R fronts using 4 channels of the RMB1077 while using the remaining 3 channels to drive the center and back surrounds.
