Sounds like a ground-loop. Not necessarily coming from the CD player though. Do you have cable/DSS hooked to the system? You can try disconnecting the feed coax. Anything else connected in the system and plugged into a different power outlet? (TV, subwoofer, etc) You can try unplugging those to see if it goes away.

Had the same problem its due to the Sony having an active ground connection and yes the culprit was the cable TV service. To eliminate the ground loop you need a power conditioner with coax cable inputs or have the cable TV service or satellite service check the ground connection outside.

You might want to get a cable line filter from parts express. It's designed to fix what you are experiencing.

Hey guys, I get the infamous humming noise (RSP-1068 + RMB-1095) whenever I have the cable TV plugged in, and it's really annoying to have to discconect them anytime I want to watch a DVD or play music. I believe I saw a while back about an isolator for like $50 that eliminates the problem? I've been...

                    Hi Gang,

Just wanted to see what HD satellite services most people are using? I am in the process of trying to determine whether to pick DirecTV or DishTV network. I am having some trouble deciding whether to purchase HD equipment or lease it from the service provider.

How to ground a Rotel RLC 1040
                    by yanies
I was wondering how to ground my Rotel power conditioner so I can eliminate a hum noise that is coming from my I mac computer.

I bought a 8 meter cable 1/8" Stereo Mini Plug (3.5 mm) to Dual RCA Termination so I can hear music from my computer to the speakers.

                    I plugged...

I just purchased a Toshiba DVD recorder/VCR combination which is hooked up to a digital cable box, primarily so that I can time shift programs. Whenever the unit is in DVD mode and I switch channels on the cable box, there is an annoying, rapid "ticking" noise that occurs during the couple...
