Rotel RMB-1075 w/ Pioneer Elite Receiver

I've been a long time lurker but finally registered today. I've really enjoyed reading all the reviews and helpful information on this forum.

Anyway I'm the new owner of a Pioneer Elite 92TXH receiver. I'm coming from a Pioneer Elite 56TXi and so far I'm very happy with the sound of the unit. However I've been getting more into music the past few months and I've become interested in adding an amp to my setup for some extra power. The Rotel RMB-1075 is at the top of my list. I'd likely biamp my mains (B&W 602s) and use the 5th channel to run the center speaker.

Does anyone have any opinions on pairing Elite receivers with a Rotel amp. Did you notice a huge sonic difference when doing so?

    Thanks!

That combo works well together. I sell both products and have used that combo on a couple of occasions. The RMB-1075 is much more dynamic than the amps in the receiver without adding any brightness. I don't know if I'd bi-amp the DM602's however. I don't think the speaker needs it with that amp. If you use the RMB-1075 for all 5 speakers your surround soundstage will be much better. Try it both ways, but I reccomend using that amp to run all 5.

      Eric,

Thanks for the information. I've been waiting for a 1075 to show up on AudioGon. I also have Rotel dealer in town so I might see what kind of price he can give me on the unit.

To be honest, you'd be much better with a Rotel RB-1092, 1091, 1072, or 1080 than a 1075. The 1075 is good, but if you aren't planning to use it as your main 5-ch amplification, then it's not worth having it. Spend the money on a better 2-ch amp and relieve the duties of the L/R from your Pioneer.

That's definitely the way to go. You should be able to save yourself some money too if you go for the 1080 since it should be cheaper than the 1075.

          Pewter,

I was under the impression that the 1080 and the 1075 had the same retail price. Do dealers discount the stereo model more or does it tend to sell for a bit less on the used market?

The RB-1080 and the RMB-1075 are the same price new, $1000.00 US. They might be a little different used, but it won't be much.

With the speakers he has the RMB-1075 will work great. It sounds like home theater is pretty important so a multichannel amp may be a better fit. The class D amps sound like they might be out of his budget as well (the RB-1072 wouldn't be, but the RMB-1075 might be a better value in his system).

I'm consindering doing the the same thing just with the 94tsxi. I own the RMB1095.
If Rotels new preamp doesn't add up to what I need it to do , then I'm gonna get the Pioneer Elite and use it as a preamp. I have dont this in the past with good results. I used the vsx49tx with the rmb1095 running Dynaudio Audience 72's 122c center and 42w rears. This sounded awesome. I was impressed with the overall results. I'm not sure how much better in sound quality the rsp1068 is as I have not done a side by side demo. I plan on bringing home a vsx94txsi for a demo here. I own the Dynaudio Audience 82's with the 122c center and 4 42w rears/surround back. If it's on par then it's a home run.

I hope Rotel comes around with there new preamp so I don't have to use a receiver as a preamp
