    Rsp 1098 Dacs

I have a 1098 and I play all my media from my RDV 1092.
When I bought the 1092 I was going to buy the RCD 1072 also, since I listen to a lot of redbook music, but my Rotel dealer told me not to. He told me that the DACS inside the 1072 are the same DACS in the 1098 and all i needed was a very good coax cable.
My question is: Is he right? are the DACS in the 1072 the same as in the 1098?
Would I be better off buying a transport and using the multi-in on the 1098?

I am trying to improve my 2ch. listening.

    Thanks
    Eddie

It may help if you could be more descript about what you are after in 2 channel.
What lacks that you want to acheive?

The 1098 uses a CS49400 DSP, and CS43122, AK5383 DACs. Its design is perhaps getting a little old, but it still does a great job with 2ch.

Whereas the RCD-1072 uses the BurrBrown PCM1792 DAC

The 1072 will give you a much more "live" feeling to the music. Where it seems like the music is being performed infront of you, instruments are placed better and the sound stage is a little bit better defined...

The RCD-1072 is better sounding than the DAC's in the RSP-1098. If you listen to CD's on a regular basis, get the RCD-1072.
